A Final Fantasy Dissidia Roleplay

It’d been two years. Unsurprisingly their intentions to stay were sustained. If anything, it was she who should have harboured the most worry whether things would work out. She’d pursued a man so besotted with his freedom, initially aloof. But that sustained curiosity brought about an irreplaceable strength about their bond, and with it was adoration. But it isn’t a saccharine kind of love, one with public coos and comments relating to their significant other’s character. They’d been a complement to each other, supplementing their capabilities by being supportive, and most important of all, allowing for independence. It made it all the more satisfying to return home ( to a person, his beloved, rather than a place ), vulnerabilities bare whilst bloody and emotional wounds were tended to.     

It was real, yes. The culmination of their relationship, a milestone.  

          It had to be reality. She sure didn’t recall passing out or falling asleep. Regaining her composure as best she could, she had been prepared to give her answer. It should have been obvious that she had no intention of separating from him weather it be what the village wanted or not. “In some cases, that may be something to worry about, but I doubt they would care much. I’m nobody of a high status. Besides, you’re the only one for me. I couldn’t say yes to anyone other than you.” Having input her answer within her statement, she cocks her head just as he would when playing coy. Not a second thought crossed her mind on this matter. She knew exactly what she wanted and to know that Noel wanted the same thing--there were no words to even describe how overwhelmingly happy he’s just made her.

     IT IS REASON enough to break tradition — she is not of the same roots as he. Had he asked initially, it would ruin the surprise, making it less memorable. Fingers glide along her wrist, slipping the bracelet on. But he lingers there for an additional breath, inspecting the intricacies of her hands, its structure and warmth. Had it been a Farseer, they would have immediately taken note of the materials, the symbolism, the gravity of the offering. While the design varied, the intention remained unchanged. Anticipation fills his bones, partially certain of her response, though there’s an undeniable undertone of doubt guiding his actions. For a nomad to bind himself, wholly devote himself to another — it was an immense sacrifice of liberty. All in exchange for companionship. 

Maybe their fondness had started young, beyond their cognizance. Through simple, courteous acts, heartfelt smiles, and selflessness. It felt odd for him to be in this situation, acting almost instinctively, as if he hadn’t planned it for the entirety of a month. Labels were an afterthought, unfitting even. Gifting the bracelet was more a formality than a necessity, but it didn’t dampen the weight of it at all.

His voice abandons its usual timbre, hushed, gentle, bordering on a whisper.

          Was he implying what she thought he was implying? After mention of it, it wasn’t much harder to figure out and her heart seems to stop--no, time seemed to stop all in one. Her response is silence as lips part, mouth attempting to form some sort of intelligible verbal reply. It was very different within her culture and much more obvious when asking for someone’s hand in marriage. 

     SHE’S OBSERVANT, little escapes her eye. A contingency plan had she discovered it was never devised, believing he’d done a fair job concealing the gift on his person. Such was not the case, and he finds himself upright reflexively, taken off guard. She wasn’t supposed to see it this early, and he finds himself fumbling for words for once in a long time. 

There was no benefit in hiding it any longer. So, he opens it, reveals an adornment comprised of similar elements as his own jewellery, though some components were vastly different, far more valuable. Silver and gold dominate more than any alloy — the significance may not be readily apparent to her, considering their differing cultures. Perhaps she’d presume it’s an addition to her already numerous collection of bracelets decorating her forearms, or perhaps she’d question the reason why he is spoiling her out of the blue.

And he gestures for it.

          “Whoa...” Her eyes widen, the glimmer of starlight reflecting off the surface of the jewels. A smile faintly tints her face, as she holds out her wrist. She takes a glance at the appendage she offered before quickly pulling it back and ridding it of the bracelets and transferring them to the opposing arm. Then once more, she holds her arms out just for him. She hadn’t taken much notice to the increase of her heart rate, but just by the look on her face one could tell she was excited.
