Ignoring the complexities and well-established enmeshment of fascism in Western culture for the sake of simpler stories to inspire rising to this moment in history only builds fair-weather fighters ill-prepared for the rigors of revolutionary action. It also widens the rift between those newly awakened to the struggle and their neighbors that have lived it for generations (and have built and maintained systems of community support and resistance that have protected them for just as long).

I was going to do a Big Huge Ultimate Fic Rec list, but that got very long, and then I was overwhelmed because I didn’t want to miss anything, which is bound to happen because I’ve done a lot of reading without being logged into ao3. so over the next however long, I will present to you several shorter rec lists, that are really just an excuse for me to compile some faves and praise them. 

first: AUs where arya and gendry are soulmates, or fated in some way. no matter if they’re fluff or angst or something else entirely, there’s something cosmically grounding about these stories that sets my mind at ease. arya and gendry will always find one another. okay. i’ll be sure to update if I can find the ones I lost!
