Most probably know that in A Date With Death, the MC, Sunshine, has a neighbor. Sunshine (and you🫵) can get snippets of the neighbor's life if the player decides to eavesdrop on them, aaand it turns out that said neighbor gets to know another unknown person, who lives on the floor above(?) them.

Now, through the days Sunshine can get the whole story of this side characters, by eavesdropping on them.

Of course we don't know their identities or their looks, but we do know that one is a Grim Reaper and the other is a human (MC's neighbor), just like Casper and Sunshine, but obviously not the same people.

Let's jump a second on 5012's design. We all saw that ring necklace. The obvious question is: who gave him that ring? Or, who's the owner of that ring?

My theory is, that Sunshine's neighbor and their Grim Reaper are the "ring person" and 5012!

Since this "ring person" was too supposed to die like Sunshine, but instead decided to run away with their Grim Reaper, who could be 5012, they may have gotten rings or even engaged.

And the reason why 5012 still works and has that ring, is because his human died by another Grim Reaper taking their soul... and by escaping termination because he was already a senior Grim Reaper(?).

It's far-fetched but not impossible, I've read some posts/messages that theorized ADWD 2's MC (0213) being 5012's reincarnated lover.

By twisting that theory a smidge we can add that Sunshine's human neighbor was 0213's human form, before dying and deciding to live on as a Grim Reaper.

This piece of theory can also be reinforced by a dialogue we can eavesdrop in ADWD 1, where the Grim Reaper character says something along the lines of: "We've met before in a past life, I was sent to collect your soul, but I fell in love and refused. Now as a punishment I keep getting sent to take your soul through every life you live." (If anyone wants to verify, it's a dialogue you get on the final day without Beyond The Bet).

So yeah! This is my theory... Sunshine's neighbor was 0213's human form and their Grim Reaper 5012 who was condemned to always find the other and take their soul.

If this hallucinated dream of a theory was right, it could mean that, by deciding to become a Grim Reaper, 0213 broke the cycle of punishments... but I didn't dwell on that too much, yet.
