Carol Hathaway’s season two arc being about getting pushed into a new relationship too fast and slowly realising that the pushy but seemingly charming guy she’s dating is actually bigoted, volatile, controlling, prone to violence, and that she needs to put herself first and leave while she can, because he is only going to get worse.

Carol Hathaway’s season three arc being about her doing things for herself, like studying for the MCATs. She’s bolstering her confidence, standing by her convictions, knowing exactly who she is and moving towards it. Even with hiccups and obstacles, Carol is so much more sure of herself now.

Hello, hi, hello!

Guess what! We've finished it. 137 000 words later and this beast is finally complete. What began as a crack!plot (what if Anna asked John to be her sperm donor lulz) became a...really long exploration of grief, loneliness, love, and recovery. So, I don't know, I guess I do not understand crack. But I tried!

Normally, at this point in the project I'd make a post about my process, as seen HERE and HERE previously.

However, I completely pantsed this one. So instead, just let me thank @cicaklah for inspiring it, and @allthemidnightmemories for being my tireless soundboard and coach, and everyone else who took the time to read, comment, kudos, and love this fic!

Anyway, because I felt my audience wasn't small enough, I *am* actually cooking up a little sequel set 18 years later. On the eve of his daughter leaving for college, John Carter goes into kidney failure. Again.

It's gonna be a riot.
