SACH had a hearting campaign, the organizers of the Gold Gala are running a Golden photo drive and we are excited to help make it happen. The challenge is simple, take a photo of anything gold, and ALBUM+ will donate fifty cents a photo, up to $5 per person and up to $500 total. Our mission when we started this company was to remove every possible barrier between the host and their wedding photos. 

At first we focused on removing all barriers for the guests. The app itself has always been free and there is no need to log in or sign up for anything. Once the app is downloaded, it is the exact same experience as using the native camera. The only difference is that the host gets the photos instantly and guests can see and remix other photos taken at the wedding. So we had it covered for the guests. Now we have removed the final barrier for the hosts. Basic accounts can now be created, absolutely free at the click of a button. No cost and ten second set up for galleries.

For just $79 you get a custom curated photo gallery of every photo taken at your wedding instantly (every photo will be collected, combined into one gallery, edited, and sorted before you get back to the honeymoon suite).

As soon as you order, you receive a unique URL that serves as your home base. From this URL you can edit, order, and enjoy all the images captured with our amazing product. 

We then set up two free geolocation hotspots (usually one at the ceremony, one at the reception). You can add extra geolocation hotspots for $25 each (your home, hotel, brunch, rehearsal dinner)

At these hotspots, any guest with the album+ app for iOS or ANDROID will be able to post photos directly to your page, the instant they are taken. The guests do not need to log in or sign up or even post anything. They simply open the app, and it automatically recognizes that they are at your wedding (a photo of the couple automatically appears) and they can start taking pictures immediately. Each photo posts directly to your page in real time. 

You also receive a custom email address for collecting photos before and after the event. Friends and family use this email ([email protected]) to send up to 10 photos at a time, which post directly to the same gallery. 

You also receive an access code that allows you to sync any digital camera with the gallery, on your wedding day (more info)

Photo remixing (any guest can edit, tag, and write a message on an image, a new image is created and the existing image is preserved) 

In addition to the gallery, you will receive one "live view" page and widget that will display photos as they are added in real time. Brides and grooms have used this feature to create a live photo montage to display in real time, or as something to share with friends and family unable to attend the wedding. 

You receive unlimited access to full res files until a month after your wedding, then unlimited low res (perfect quality online) for life. 

Contributions, by number of contributors and total photos is unlimited 

Hand curated, elegant digital photo album, delivered to you before you get in the limo to go home!  As each photo is captured, it is evaluated and edited, the top 100 photos of the night are put into a little album which you can enjoy instantly!

Keep the camera STEADY - use the table or the floor (seriously the effects can be cool) to steady your hand and to act as a tripod, especially after a few glasses of celebratory champagne 

Understand the limitations of smartphone cameras... they file sizes are getting bigger and bigger but know your LIGHT... use light as your friend, not your enemy... the camera will expose for the strongest source of light, avoid taking photos of people when they are in between you and a window... put yourself in the middle of the subject and the window and use the light as your friend.. 

Take advantage of the fact that you know people- use the front facing camera and take pics that the pro can't get- right on the dance floor, at the bar, etc

Prohibition. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

It didn't work for booze, it didn't work for digital music, it doesn't work for you know what, and it isn't the right strategy for digital photography, even at a wedding ceremony (not as a blanket edict anyway). 

I was part of a discussion on weddingwire recently, where the tone of the dialog was borderline protectionist, if not unrealistic regarding the ever ubiquitous cameraphones and guest photography at events.  It was also unambiguously missing the perspective of the bride. 

The sentiment from many vendors was to ban cameras entirely, save for the professional, in favor of what is being called an "unplugged wedding". 

Now, there is no question that guest cameras are not meant to COMPETE with the experience and equipment of the pros. I see these services as complementary not competitive and won't any more real estate on this post on that debate. If you are worried that guest and iPhones will replace you, then you may certainly fall victim to disruption.

There is also no merit to the debate "these photos suck!". The quality of the cameras, is only going to get better and the effects are only going to get cooler. Most guests will continue to take photos at weddings.
