Evening all. 

It is with a sad heart I close my blog for the time being. I am currently working three jobs which I love and doing burlesque most weekends, but it leaves me little time to blog. I am saddened but I feel that letting people ask questions I dont have time to answer properly or promptly is harmful to their time and hair. For this reason I am closing until I feel able to re-open.  The FAQ and tutorials will remain as helpful documents for those needing help, and the search bar will often find you tagged answers to the question you have.  Try searching #damagedhair or #bleach for example.

Sadly you’re dreaming for the impossible. To get brightly coloured hair you need to start with a clean base. Imagine a purple crayon trying to colour on black paper? It just wont work. You use that crayon on white paper though and suddenly the colour is easy to see. The same goes for your hair. You need to bleach it to get a light yellow before using a vegetable dye like bleach London (a terrible brand by the way, I would suggest using directions, special effects, manic panic or crazy colour instead).

Hey so I noticed you are really good with hair and im the exact opposite of experienced so ive got a few questions! I have really curly hair, ive never done anything with it until the end of august. Originally my natural hair is brown. I want to dye it lilac (with directions semi permanent dyes). I already did four bleach baths, with the weakest bleach i think its like 9% (four bleach baths=two bleaches from the box) now its the colour that is visable  on the pic i attached! Anyway, i was wondering if bleaching it once more and then toning it with LILAC toner by directions is a good idea? I was originally going to buy a white toner but in poland its seriously hard to buy anything so im gonna have to get it from the internet which is expensive but will a lilac toner do? to tone it white after its bleached once more? Also im wondering if one more bleaching will do. Should i use whole bleach on my hair or do a bleach bath with stronger bleach? Im so torn im sorry ive never done it:( also i talked to a hair dresser and she told me the bleaching is done very evenly and nice so i guess props to my mum ;) thanks for help i love your blog;)

Sorry the reply is so late. Your natural hair is light so the dye will work but without the bleach to make the hair a little porous, it will wash out very quickly and likely stain (it will stain bleached hair also, but you were worried about it washing out)

Maintaining lilac is a hard, and takes dedication. You’ll need to re-dye it or use a toner probably once a week to upkeep the colour. 

Top tips for maintaining colour are:- 

Wash in cold water

Wash only once or twice a week

Don’t over use products or heat treatment as these fade colour quickly

Hi! Its hard to say as I don’t know what colour base you had and what dyes you’re using. When bleaching your hair, the lighter your base, the more likely you’re going to end up with the colour you want to achieve. There are some dyes that just never go the colour they are supposed to, and some (like grey) are time sensitive. Grey for example is a blue or purple base, so if left on for too long then the base colour shows more than the light version of that. Often it helps looking on haircrazy on the dye galleries to see what colour other people’s hair has become when using dyes. Reds sometimes have purple tones for example and if you can see that on others, you can try a different brand.
