I bet you didn't know (or maybe just didn't realize) I have a 14 year old son. Can I get a little personal guys? Ok, cool. So, last year I made the major decision to uproot my family from Georgia (where I spent the last 15 years of my life) and moved to California for a year to chase my dream, build my brand @bossmomnation and work closely with my bestie and business partner @bossmom_shah. At the time, it felt right. I soon learned the consequence of my selfish decisions. The thing about motherhood: there's no right answer. You do what you think is right. Sometimes shit really works. Sometimes it doesn't. Are you ready? Some things you just lose in the fire. You can't get them back. That's ok because sometimes it's a humbling lesson of growth. My family isn't the same anymore. My husband didn't come to California with me. Talk about strain. When I announced the move, the question of him arose time after time. I painstakingly smiled while giving the best PC answer I could afford to shell out. Nothing was the same. My son dreaded the idea of living in California. I let him move to New York for the year to stay with family on his father's side. I rarely see him outside of FaceTime chats. I'm faced with sadness beyond measure. This airport pickup in this video is my third in person contact with him since July 2015. My baby girls. 4 & 6 at the time. Give me a second. This part makes me want to cry. I separated them from the two most important men in their life! Everyone keeps a smile most of the time. But when it rains, it pours. I recently took a hiatus from social media. Basically, I was depressed. I couldn't even laugh to keep from crying. I didn't want to either. I really felt helpless. I've always prided myself on having control and a plan. This time, my plans buckled. All control was lost. I'm a different girl right now. Can I get a little deep guys? Ok, cool. Man plots. God plans. Simple as that. When the creator and your higher self is ready for transition, your flesh has no honor. Humble is not even the word that can describes how I feel. The humility in my being enlightens me! I think I like who I'm becoming. I'm gracious to be here.
