Any personal head cannons about Luna, Levia, Held and his family, whatever the fuck was going on with Lich and Seth and who he truly is, and Levia’s assistants and then apprentices

Luna: was working in Japan and transferred to the institute in Moscow about 1,5 years before the Climb One’s flight (tbh I mostly thought on it before Her and Taro’s Promenade was released and now I’m not sure about time periods at all, but anyway the song isn’t clear). I think at the time she was ~27 years and it makes her about 6 years older than Levia. As a person Luna was easygoing, on good terms with everyone and respected, (because everyone who has mentioned her took her game advice as life lessons like if she was a new great philosopher), yet still mostly being an observer. She invited most of institute staff people to play her video games and usually they agreed. Also I think that Luna was acquaintances with Gumillia back in Japan (and Promenade made me think they could be like childhood or teenage friends, if the singer is actually Luna), but after moving to the institute Luna also became friends with Michaela. I think their personalities could work well together as friends. On Climb One Luna gradually lost her cheer and became more cynical especially about Levia. On Earth Luna used to be very patient with her outbursts and other destructive tendencies and sometimes just ignored them for the sake of Levia’s mind to be safe in delusions but with progressing HER it was harder for Luna to not interfere. Eventually she injected that drug in Levia by herself with no emotions and only quiet disappointment. Had a big crush on Levia and genuinely wanted to care about her, it shocked Luna how everyone just let Levia overwork herself

Gumillia and Michaela: they were around Levia since her early teen years. Since Gumillia was patient and not too emotional Levia became mostly attached to her and at some point was jealous of Michaela. Also I think Gumillia could be either a hardcore idol fan as in the 3rd Period or a magical girl anime fan

Levia: well there is a lot I think about her, but here I’d say that I think she could have tried to shoot herself once a few months before Climb One’s flight, both because she felt that she still could be a HER and because she had to face that her fighting for *this* world failed completely. Luna stopped her

As for Yaggdras and SethLich I don’t know what to say unfortunately, maybe only that I think Levia saw Seth as a father figure and after realising his betrayal she just erased him from most of her memories

first of all really excited for that MV and thanks for reminding me about Nyoze because it inspired me to come up with some great skits! And second of all, I love how young looking he looks in the MV while in the actual novel illustration he looks so tired lol that’s what a quest to kill a bunch of random children and save the world will do to you! I also like now that I noticed it how you incorporate his vision. Also, I like your Gumillia second period design! Sorry if this is a mouthful, I’m just happy to share my thoughts!

For a sec I couldn’t remember where the 2nd Period Gumillia was, thanks for bringing her up! Actually after drawing her this way I found out that in the Heavenly novel it was said that MotHY Gumillia’s face was the one she’d had in the 2nd Period, so now I wonder whether it applies to her green hair or not🤔 Though I like to imagine most of the earthlings to have natural hair colours with Luna and Held being ones with coloured hair

Your version of Rahab is so pretty and hot! It should’ve been me!!! (she wouldn’t be a good partner and would kill anybody else I’m seeing out of jealousy, but still! Also love your design for the other characters like Luna (very creative and I kind of like how you added traits of the Vocaloid she was probably based off of while also giving her a unique look even though I don’t personally imagine her looking like that but I can definitely see it)

Thank you! Designing characters with very little known about their appearance (especially in Luna’s case) was an interesting experience. I mostly based them off my own associations. This includes other fan designs and also some characters from other media. I also originally tried to make them closer to the official designs in terms of details and shapes, however then I decided to give Rahab and then Luna wavy hair despite that there’s only a few characters in EC with not straight hair

I’ve also worked on the designs for Gumillia and Michaela though they were left as sketches only, mostly because I couldn’t decide which hair colour I’d prefer. Writing this gives me some inspiration so maybe I’ll return to them!

Thinking about how EC is Levia becoming every other character she originally despises, who she sees as broken, weak or evil. For some reason she always tries to make herself seem as the one morally superior. She doesn’t care about appearances, but when it comes to her mindset, she constantly makes it so she’s doing whatever for some right reason. Not for someone else, just for herself. Because when she comes to thinking about herself as inadequate or *evil*, the MoN plot happens

She can’t be broken like Eve, defensive like Kyle, corrupted (literally and not) as Gallerian, evil as the Mayu patient… there were certainly more examples but these are the first I remembered. But the thing which distinguishes them is Levia’s self-control over her thoughts. The MoN prologue gave me a strong feeling that she has a massive grip over her head even when she’s alone. She does it only for herself to prevent her sense of self from shattering (the MoN plot).

MoN shows how Levia denies her malice, and the Gift novel shows how much she avoids feeling pain. She puts herself into anything to keep her mind busy and not think how tired she is of everything. Throughout the series she interacts with other characters who are similar to her, and makes herself sure she’s not like them, she’s still holding onto something. Eventually, she has to face Nemesis — broken, dependent, ill, weak, etc — and realise that’s who she, Levia, is

I wish there were more interactions between Levia and Kyle because they are awfully similar, but their only dialogue starts with Elluka accusing Kyle of being shameless and ends with her being jealous of Gumillia and it makes it an absolute masterpiece

One thing about the MoN novel writing I like is the way how Bloodstained Switch is referenced. In the prologue we learn about a girl patient who committed suicide, and Levia words it as “pressing a switch”. The Mayu character in the song talks about her “Other me”. Later in the novel Nemesis shows her own “Other me” too. The song makes a parallel between a literal dangerous switch and the switch between two personalities; the book prologue makes a parallel between the switch and suicide. And in the end of the novel, Nemesis attempts suicide (as Levia herself calls it) with Punishment by her other self’s influence. The song’s overall meaning in story is mostly possibly just to be an explanation of HER, but the book could include its lyrics in the narrative with making an interesting parallel for Levia

Bonus parallels: the “I’m not to blame” thing which is repeating in the song and has a weight in the MoN final. Also Mayu gets injected with a drug in the song, and Levia was turn into the dragon by being injected with a drug which is revealed in the Memories of God sequence — both injections were made to control their destructive behaviour as HERs

I think what really sets Nemesis and Margarita is that their perception of reality is so warped, they actually believe that committing their respective Sin actually benefits others.

Margarita thought that poisoning the people of Toragay would make them happy - she was depressed and wanted to take the easy way out instead of solving her problems proactively, and assumed that everyone else felt the same things as her, so she poisoned them.

Nemesis, on the other hand, was regarded as a hero after the Levianta civil war for killing Gallerian, even though she did what she did because of her own selfish intentions. After Nemesis became dictator, she sought to destroy the Sins by destroying Evillious itself, believing that Evillious was “hell” and, as its Master, it was her duty to cleanse it.

As opposed to Venomania, Banica, Riliane and Gallerian, who all committed their Sins due to selfish reasons, Nemesis and Margarita were heroes in their own mind. And to me, that’s really something else - if a person as powerful as Nemesis thinks she’s doing a good thing by causing mass death and destruction, that’s something to be scared of.

I’ve recently dived more into DID and yes!! Though in the book DID is mentioned directly but only as a symptom of HER, it seems natural if Nemesis could develop it outside of HER. Not only she has a split personality, but also amnesia about the traumatic childhood experience. Alters “contain” the unbearable memories, and it could easily be the case for Neme’s «other me», that Nemesis redirected her memories to this certain personality, not just simply “forgot” it all

With Hänsel and Gretel, in one album booklet there were a mention that the Theatre servants are copies of original H&G, but later this whole point wasn’t used at all. I guess them appearing in Girl Went Mad could be connected to this cancelled plot line. Though with how it is now, I think it’s a good theory to say that these voices were her earlier alters

my friend (who’s a system !!) originally came up with this hc actually , she specified that her childhood was unhealthy and can have serious affects on her brain including developing alters as a coping mechanism so I rlly like ur point on the amnesia abt her childhood trauma.

I also like to think that during the time she was Themis eight nemesis herself wasn’t fully fronting , (I could be making this up , I can’t remember much abt the details) she was shown feeling numb during the events of TLR until the Leviathan civil war (but to be fair she’s prolly depressed )

also, this part is a bit more wild , but I also hc that

Either :

1. The Ma that shows up is an alter, every interaction happens in her headspace

2. Nemesis has herself as an alter , that came up with with the yearly Ma visit memories

3. Both of the above and all the interactions are an effort to keep nemesis sane.

ALSO ALSO I rlly think nemesis is psychologically underdeveloped in the book but maybe that’s just meeee🤔

I totally agree with her being emotionally undeveloped though I think it’s a case for Levia and Elluka just as well, she never got a chance to learn how process almost any emotion. And I like your point about Nemesis feeling numb during Four Seasons ch and up to the Civil War, it really felt like that as I recall. I guess it makes sense since she had to assassinate at the same time with getting loved for the first time in her life, dissociating seems to be a very possible outcome for her mind. Maybe the “Other me” was active while doing the tasks, because I don’t remember the killings being shown in moment in the novel (though Neme doesn’t have amnesia on them)

Also Levia is extremely prone to dissociation too (literally the whole MoN novel), with Nemesis it could just become more severe due to circumstances. As I got it, the brain/psyche should originally have some aptitude for forming a disorder as a reaction, and it seems to suit Levia’s case. As Levia she was neglected but was relatively safe and reacted with detachment from her feelings, but as Nemesis she was left in a forest with no safety and reacted with an actual DID

Ma imagined interactions are surely a way to keep Nemesis sane, alters or not, but there was also a scene where Levia while being inside Neme’s mind saw Ma. This thing can be seen as an alter I think now, as it’s literally another identity in her mind. Actually the way MoN is written makes a lot of material for psyche analysis with how we go inside Nemesis’ mind while being inside Levia’s mind

The question made me think a little, though I’d say the one most fascinating thing about Levia for me is the complexity of her character’s image. By this I mean the amount of references, cultural context of Japan, strong narrative connections with other series’ characters, themes upped throughout her whole arc. And it all works together, making a character who you can analyse using all the original material. That a character like her has been created by the creator’s thoughts and now can make me think — I find it truly fascinating

That’s probably why I like her: she makes me think. She gave me a whole new perspective on things (and also the interest in psychiatry which had its own influence I guess). Also, I really like to see such a mistaken person with flawing empathy who isn’t justified by the narrative (right the opposite) and yet is written with enough care you can feel connection with

Thank you for asking this! It was interesting to word these thoughts I had in mind for a while
