So a month or so ago I got surprised by the portrait on the left, drawn by @resting-vibes using the reference board on the right made of things I have called Literally Me.
Needless to say, now I got a sort of clear endgoal in life beyond the basics. And lemme just say, I did NOT expect this one portrait to keep me sane as effectively and consistently as it does!
Now we just hope it all goes right and I end up achieving this look and happiness.

My favorite thing is when a literary character is at the end of their character arc and have goen through amazing character development but they make it pretty clear that they are still the opposite of normal or sane. At the end of the Count of Monte Cristo, the Count has just finished his revenge plot when Maximillian goes to him to ask him for a poison to kill himself with because Max's lover Valentine is dead, which is when the Count surprises him by revealing that Valentines death was faked and he's been keeping her hidden from Max for months. When Max asks the Count why he let him be depressed and suicidal for months on end, the Count responds by telling him that people can only experience true happiness if they have first reached the bottommost depths of despair. This is, I should remind you, a man who was trapped in solitary confinement for fourteen years.
