Muscles burnt from the over-usage as he sped through the night. The longer he ran, the more did that dreaded feeling settle in his stomach. He might have gotten LOST. And as the clouds settled, rain poured over him and it got harder and harder to see, he decided to stop. Dark eyes scanned his surroundings, saw the unfamiliar area and noticed the turned off lights everywhere but at one place. A groan escaped his mouth as he began to move again, legs aching but the slow pace still made him uncomfortable.
At first, he thought nobody was around, the light wasn’t meant to be on and attracting people, but then he noticed strong legs peep out from under a car. Another noise left his throat and another and another until the legs finally reacted and a man crawled up. Peter’s smile almost matched the one the man carried on his face, but embarrassmentwas edged into his. “ Do you have like a MAP of the place, bro? “ The words came out easily, this wasn’t the first time he had missed a turn and ended in the wrong state, but no one ever needed to know that. Instead, he looked outside again, saw the darkness of the night and heard the rain steadily come down. It was then that he noticed his own drenched clothes and his EMPTY stomach. A new smile formed on his lips and the curve of his eyebrows fell, this time, his expression was a lot more apologetic. “ Actually man, do you know a place where I can crash or something? “
Kit still had the dirty rag between his hands, but he set it down quickly. Reaching for the dial on the radio he turned down the music that was playing on top of his desk while he was at it. It hadn’t been exactly booming loud enough to drown out his words or interrupt their exchange, but Kit simply considered it polite work etiquette to not have it playing, or at least as loud as it was, while a customer was at the garage. ❛ Sure I do. I keeps one right in here! ❜ Then Kit reached down, pulling out the top drawer, which was filled with all sorts of folders and papers, including the object in question. The map itself was a little wrinkled and covered in some oil prints courtesy of the garage worker himself. It wasn’t the first time he was asked for directions or to show it to random people who came from out of town.
He laid it down on the surface of his desk, spreading it out at the corners and turning it around for the other male’s benefit. ❛ A few years old. But this should help. We’re over here. ❜ Kit pointed and pressed the tip of his finger toward the edge of the map. The spot he indicated was well outside of city limits and what some might refer to as the toolies, though there were intertwined lines indicating the town, connections toward main avenues and routes and expressways. Kit flicked a glance up at the next question, giving a nod of his head as he straightened his posture. ❛ There’s an inn not too far up the road that’s always looking for business. ❜ He considered his next words. Kit didn’t care to spread gossip, but he did think presenting the facts was important. ❛ Tends to be used more by the local boys wanting to keep things hidden from home. ❜ Affairs, in other, unspoken words.
