The One You Know (>100k words, still updating) - Hard to explain. Basically my rewrite starting in season five.

seriously a big part of the show is about killing. they’re effectively vigilantes.

#my hc is that sam and cas only made such a big deal about moc dean killing things because they were already worried to begin with #because he isn’t really?? doing anything wrong??? unless you’re opposed to the vigilante justice in the show which sam+cas are clearly not #i think they were both latching onto any and all violence from him and thinking ‘this is a bad sign for what he’ll do in the future’#either that or it’s bad writing but what can you do

i think it's interesting how in its a terrible life zachariah transports dean to this alternate normal version of his life and when he inevitably ends up hunting again zach's like see it's in your blood. and like he's conveniently steering clear of the question of why he had to bring sam into the whole charade. sam's not learning any lessons. he's still a part of this. I wonder why? perhaps for the same reason that dean goes to sam in the pilot episode huh? perhaps for the same reason that dean settles down with lisa at the end of season 5. dean's not doing this without his brother and even zachariah knows it.

@30-to-50-plastic-spiders yeah exactlyyyyy and you're right he was !! sam had these dreams and he was convinced this isn't what he should be doing with his life meanwhile dean's just knee deep in his healthy detox juice

not sure if zachariah intentionally let sam have memories/dreams of his old life to get the ball rolling or if that's just a sammy winchester thing but either way he's doing all the "bro trust me" heavy lifting in that episode. by the time they actually start hunting dean has at least SEEN the ghost with his own eyes sam's just like no yeah i believe it no proof needed.

and after they finish the job he's like "dude you know what i think we should RUN AWAY together and hunt monsters" and dean's just like what is Wrong with this guy

you're so based for saying this. i particularly love the context around the phone smashing in this episode. sam does all that and then goes "i quit" cut to dean who's like "im giving my notice." hilarious

i watched this the other day and it was very weird #like sam straight up watches cas cower like that. both winchesters acknowledge him while breaking the door. they clearly noticed. #but the *second* they go through that door the whole universe just like forgets it happened at all #like even at the end of the ep they don’t mention it *as they are discussing cas acting weird* (via @ladyluscinia )

it always made me feel like it was happening in his head or smth and he was actually just standing there frozen the whole time #thats what i choose to believe because otherwise it makes no fucking sense how they react (via @mxhenriksen )

also. Also. i love that it’s just plain fear it’s not like man fear. #he’s making himself small clutching his blade with both hands looking horrified. it stands out. rules. (via @castielmode )

Oh are we bitter casgirl posting? can I be bitter about how Dabb decided to throw nine seasons of Cas rejecting the concept of destiny and rebelling against predetermined endings out the window at the end of s12 to completely character assassinate him and have him suddenly fine with destiny and fate because.... a fetus told him so, I guess? Like I love Jack and I love Cas as Jack's dad and I am so invested in that but I am Bitter that DabbSinger/the show felt it necessary to character assassinate Cas to accomplish it

oh this is very interesting because yeah cas immediately believed in jack (because he needed to have someone to believe in?). and how they went straight for cas' weaknesses: hunger and want (i saw paradise a world without hunger or want). and cas bought into that and on one hand ofc good for him (jack!!!) but narratively they. made cas believe in something so fast? like. i get it he needed something to believe in and he jumped on it the moment he had the chance but yeah if he was more sceptical it would hurt no one
