I love you.

For years I have washed my veins clean

Thrown my needles away.

But your voice still echos

My bones still ache,

For the way you used to pick my up with one hand

Spin me around.

Kiss my nose.

Wipe my tears and tell me

“What do I say, breath and it will all be okay”

I miss falling asleep to the sound

Of the open road and shifting gears

Of the sunroof open

With my pillow on the console

And your fingers in my hair

Leaving when it just turns dark

And opening my eyes to a new sky

While you stayed behind the wheel

No matter how far the drive.

I have to remind myself

Of all the things broke

The night you made me lose my words

With your hand around my thought

And all the lies and the trust lost

All the promises made without a second thought.

How I felt so empty, alone in a crowed room.

And I fucking hate it
