For all the tankies and misguided “leftists” who somehow think that backing Putin is the way to show how “pure” their “communism” is—THIS is how you do it. THIS is how you rise up. These Russian protesters aren’t talking shit, while hiding behind a keyboard, in the safety of a country that’s safely not being invaded. These Russian citizens are openly protesting Putin’s war and their own government. They are putting it all on the line and literally risking everything to protest Putin’s imperialism. They are showing solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

Loki bit back the acerbic retort that soured his tongue, feigning diplomacy instead. ‘I’ve thwarted an attempt by the Mad Titan Thanos to take possession of the Tesseract. I would offer Asgard the means to repair the Bifrost. You’re welcome?’

‘Norns bless us,’ sighed Frigga, relaxing her clasped hands and looking to Odin for clemency.

‘For something in return,’ added Loki.

Unmoved, Odin peered down at him witheringly. ‘What reward do you seek?’

A slow, sure grin curved across Loki’s lips that was almost giddy with relief. She wasn’t far, he could feel it.

‘Sigyn.’

Thanks, anon, I’m glad to hear it! 💖 I’m not a fanfic writer myself, so feel free to use my analyses/theories in your work.  (Come to think, a lot of my blog is just VLD criticism.  Love or hate it, this show does inspire a lot of discussion.)

I actually haven’t made an original post in a while, so let me just add this:  I do think that some non-Galra aliens would be very grateful towards (and defensive of) Team Voltron post-canon for freeing them from their oppressors.  People liberated in the season 1 to season 3-ish period would remember the paladins at their most scrappy and competent, when they were just a Castleship and a color-coded robot taking on an all-powerful evil regime.  They were more like superheroes than a military force, too few and inexperienced to mount an all-out war but defending the weak wherever they went, a lot like the Oldtron cast (I think.  I didn’t really watch the Lion Voltron seasons of DotU).  “Defeat the Galra and spread peace” was always their mission statement, but it didn’t take on that “Voltron: Legendary Conquerors” edge until they started openly recruiting for the Coalition.

Where VLD leaves us, though, I think the paladins and the Voltron Coalition would logically be in hot water very quickly post-canon.  There are a lot of potential catalysts (which in itself is quite telling), but it would most likely come down to how they handled the Galra and the Alteans, as a people and as individuals.

Oh my god. 

Lotor had lowered his weapons. He had told his generals to stand down. 

Allura and the paladins opened fire anyway and ended up killing him.

Prosecution: Did you as the red Paladin, witness the events immediately preceding, and during the death of emperor Lotor?

Lance: yes sir

Prosecution: Please tell us who opened fire on the emperor?

Lance: Well, it was Allura but that was because Lotor…

Prosecution: Just answer the question. Was it Allura, pilot of the blue lion?

Lance: yes sir.

Prosecution: Was there any provocation before she opened fire? Had he attacked you?

Lance: No sir.

Prosecution: In your own words, please tell the members of the jury, just what emperor Lotor was doing before team Voltron opened fire.

Lance: Well, he was trying to negotiate with us. He said we didn’t need to fight because we were on the same team. He had told his generals to hold their fire. But Allura shot him because he had killed all those Alteans.

Prosecution: Did you have evidence of any this?

Lance: No sir.

Prosecution: Mr. McClain, how would you describe your relationship with Princess Allura? Were you close?

Lance: Yeah, she was my girlfriend. We were very close. I loved her.

Prosecution: And how long had you felt this way toward her?

Lance: I’ve been in love with her since the day we met.

Prosecution: How would you describe her relationship with Emperor Lotor?

Lance: *exhaled breath, long pause* They became pretty close. I know he had a crush on her.

Prosecution: Did you observe any reciprocation of these feelings from her?

Lance: *huffs* Yeah.

Prosecution: Did you ever feel jealous?

Defence: Objection, your honour. This is irrelevant.

Prosecution: It is relevant to establish motivation.

Judge: Overruled. Counsel may proceed.

Lance: Of course I did! He was terrible for her. He didn’t deserve her. 

Prosecution: Mr. McClain, how much time had elapsed from the moment you discovered the Altean colony to the time the Princess opened fire on the emperor?

Lance: So, she threw him across the room and knocked him unconscious. Then clone Shiro took him to Haggar I guess? By the time he came back in his ships, it had been several hours.

Prosecution: So, she assaulted him and caused bodily harm as well?

Defence: Objection. Counsel is asking for a lay witness opinion.

Judge: Sustained.

Prosecution: During the time the emperor was gone, did you witness Allura in any sort of crazed state of mind or did she appear calm?

Lance: Well, she was upset at first but after I spoke to her and gave her a hug, she calmed down a bit.

Prosecution: *smiles imperceptibly* You did not witness any irrational thought, excessive displays of anger or insanity from Allura, then?

Lance: No, sir.

Prosecution: Did any of you during this time speak of your plans to kill emperor Lotor?

Lance: I never thought of it like that. Look, he was the bad guy. He used us, lied to us, and killed people. We had to take him down.

Prosecution: When Allura opened fire, did you attempt to stop her?

Lance: No, sir.

Let’s skip the flowery intros and get to the point, because this is important.

Lotor’s vindication and reunion with Allura were originally part of VLD s8 and I can prove it. Most animation relating to this plot was excised, while other clips were re-purposed to make it look like he was dead all along: but some are still in there.

The removal of this plot line was one of the major factors in completely messing up season 8, and it was a change that was made very recently; no earlier than August in fact. There is a significant, non-zero chance that an unedited version of Season 8 exists in its entirety; completely finished.
