My mum and I had a talk about her abortion and she was incredibly open and honest about it. It was just something that needed to happen for her because she was only 19. She described the doctors (old white men) as being very empathetic and lovely. Technically, at the time, abortion was illegal in this state but her doctors found a way because they took a fucking oath to help people.
“It should only be the business of yours and your GPs, it’s basic health care.”
I know if I needed one, she would step up IMMEDIATELY.
I’m so lucky that in Australia we still have the choice (in most states as far as I’m aware) and my heart fucking BREAKS for people in American states that ban it. I have room here in my house if any Americans want to move here. I mean it. Our health care system isn’t perfect but it’s gotta be better than there.
