Welcome! So I decided I wanted to do a writing game/exercise and this is what I settled on! I'm using the system from Reincarnated as the Unlovable Villainous as the base, but I will be modifying it and not playing the game as fully intended. Namely, the main character is a man and has not actually been reincarnated in an otome game. I'm just using this as a flat base for romance writing and intrigue! I'm using the paranormal version that I have further modified into a more fantasy setting that develops throughout the gameplay. I did pair down some aspects of the Love Interest's backstories so they can develop more organically throughout the course of the story. And with that, let's get into the game setup and characters!Β
Main Character: Kasper Kosk
Race: Human
Role: Cultist
Lore: 3
Love: 3
Relationship to Rival (Penelope): Opposite sides
Love Interest 1: Grady Ristol
A half-human investigator with heterochromia. He is cheerful and outgoing and is loved by those around him.
Relationship with Penelope: 3 hearts, friendly
Love Interest 2: Eric Fernward
A vampiric doctor with tattoos. He is falsely cheerful and outgoing and is hated by those around him.
Relationship with Penelope: 6, warm admiration
Love Interest 3: Vellum Pew
A freshly turned werewolf and paladin of the Church. He has a facial scar and comes across as cool and aloof, but may have a hidden soft side. He is well-respected among his peers.
Relationship with Penelope: 3, respectful and polite
Rival Penelope: She is driven and resolute. Her hobby and job is science. She is resentful towards Kasper due to her inability to prove his guilt for practicing occult magics and her feelings towards the love interests are platonic.Β
There are a number of Bad Endings that can be triggered on a run that can end the game prematurely. These are predetermined and as follows.
Bad Endings:
On Round 2: Kasper is hunted by Penelope because he's challenged the rules/principles by which their society functions. DC: 2
On Round 5: Kasper is hunted by EricΒ because he has exposed supernaturals. DC: 3
On Round 13: Kasper is killed by His Cult because he's betrayed Grady. DC: 4
On Round 22: Kasper is tortured by The Government because he's been tricked by the supernaturals. DC: 5
On Round 23: Kasper is tortured by Vellum because he's challenged supernaturals. DC: 6
On Round 24: Kasper is killed by Eric because he's exposed Eric. DC: 7
If all Bad Ends are avoided, then there will be 30 rounds each walking through different scenarios and dates. I think that's all the background needed! Let's dive in!
*I have no idea how far the dice will take me romancing these characters, but if I hit 10 hearts this story will absolutely become Explicit! As with all things on my blog, 18+ only.

*supposedly writing a fantasy erotica novel* Of course, if gods fell out of the sky there would be a crisis of faith. There would be people who didn't believe that the creatures that fell could be gods because the inherent reasoning that the gods are gods in a world steeped with magic, is that the gods are infallible. On the other hand, it wasn't all the gods who fell and no one is sure how many of them did, so there would be those who would get even more fanatical believing their chosen deity was one of the 'true' ones who survived. On the other other hand, some people would definitely blame themselves/other members of the mortal races for letting/causing the gods to fall, and it would be really interesting to have a contingent of them become zealots who go after the faithful AND presumed sinners as a way of trying to force those around them to repent and make reparations in the hope of returning the gods to the sky. On the other-- where the fuck did I get this many hands? Anyway, there would also be those who may believe that gods in some form still exist, but actively seek to tear down the ones that remain either to further the goals of the mortal races or to just free them from being pawns in the games of those beings that they now know can fail and abandon them at inopportune times. And let's not forget those who would start new religions or rekindle old ones that worship things other than the pantheon of gods that were involved in the fall, people would absolutely seek out new avenues to explain their world and believe in. There would also definitely be power-hungry people who think that if gods can fall and if part of divinity can be literally claimed like objects, that they should be the first known mortal to ascend to godhood and absolutely be doing freaky unethical shot and pissing off a whole contingent of faithful people who believe that a mortal becoming a god is the ultimate blasphemy against the true gods and cannot be done AND people who believe that it IS possible for a mortal to become a god but that it is a fuck-off stupid idea and absolutely has to be stopped. All of this on top of the people who simply don't believe in anything at all and say that more energy should be focused on the true and direct things that mortals can do to improve each other's lives and the world around them rather than arguing over a conflict that happened six centuries ago. And those who only vaguely abide by whatever the most influential group in their social sphere is but without any conviction behind the beliefs, just parroting things on and allowing old faiths and traditions to be diluted and obfuscated because they never cared to actually learn the reasons or history behind them. AND--
Oh uh, right, yeah, one of the gods is possessing the corpse of a wizard who tried to claim his power for himself and he recharges his battery by raw dogging with his unintended somewhat reticent bodyguard because that is way better than sucking the life out of the very earth around them as they try to outrun as many of these factions as they can before someone unwanted takes notice of them
Sometimes a meet-cute is a god jumping into a freshly deceased body and then trying to figure out what happened to him by asking the only other person in the room about it. And then sometimes that person was the one who killed the body said god is now inhabiting which promptly results in everyone having a very no good bad time

The idea I've been kicking around in my head for the past two weeks, text copied below for better readability!
Fidesluxet | Sparkfall
The Basics:
600 years ago, several gods fell out of the sky. Now the mortal races look for their sparks to grow their own ingenuity or claim a reward from the remaining pantheon by returning them to their place among the stars.
The Characters:
Ateus is a fallen god in a mortal body. He believes in decay and the life that comes from rot, and has little knowledge of how the world has changed since his fall and imprisonment.
Cole Hamlyn is a mortal man. He believes that no one stays good and true for long, and seeks means so that he can ensure he is someone people will hesitate to betray in the future.
Will the final result be posted here or do you have another website/media in mind?
Also will we perhaps be getting crumbs like basic world building or character intro in the future? π
The final story will be put on my Ko-fi for digital download for a few dollars, as well as for free on Kindle Unlimited (I believe it will have to be $2.99 for people who are not Unlimited members to qualify for that program). Ko-fi will be the best place to support me, though, because Amazon takes a cut from Unlimited, of course, and there is a delay in when funds are delivered π
And I would love to talk about the world and characters! I've been thinking of making little mood boards for the characters and vibes!

Having a big cool fantasy world with a bunch of cool reveals and secret lore is really fun until you realize that means you can't talk about any of it ever at all to anyone.
I'm in a weird place with Cultist's Gamble because technically there should be 30 rounds, that's the game. However, at the point where I stopped writing because I had other projects to work on, I had successfully passed the final Bad End check. Which means that no matter what else happens in the story, Kasper will succeed with his goal, and my boy already has his two lovely boyfriends. All of that rules. But it does mean that writing another 7 rounds seems superfluous because they can keep adding in more random shit to be resolved instead of my resolving the story threads that have already been set up.
All that to say, I think that I might call the story a few rounds early when I finally get to pick it back up again so I can make a solid, streamlined ending instead of bloating it with a bunch of random story beats that don't do anything for what's already been set up!
I'm just saying what is the point of having an immortal Frankenstein monster boyfriend if you can't split him open along his y-incision and hold onto his ribs while riding him!?
