I draw monsters now
Drawn for my friend based on her Facebook comment.Â
I started keeping a visual diary back in January. I draw something for everyday in pen. This is the first time I’ve used a reference for drawing (a couple of photos I took on the night) and I’m super happy with how it turned out.

Light and Shading Tutorial
This breaks it down a bit more toward the level I need
good tutorials are few and far between ( a lot of artists seem to get caught up in the superficial trappings of portraiture rather than the nitty gritty fundamentals), but these breakdowns by Bryan Lee are just fantastic. Â Super applicable tips and tricks, no matter your personal technique/approach.
Day 21 - A Self Portrait (02-Feb-2016)
of the 21-Day Drawing Challenge with Von Glitschka
It took much longer than 21 days but I made it to the end!
Enjoy this self-portrait of yours truly. After staring at my face for 2 hours (and have mild face blindness), I have no idea if this looks like me or not. You can tell it’s a person though, so there’s that.Â
February is going to be a celebration of “No”!
Everyday I’ll be posting a little drawing about no.
Because it is a word I need to use more. It needs to come to my lips automatically, easier than yes does. Because I was recently in a uncomfortable situation and when I was pondering it later trying to find a polite way to have avoided it, I realised that I already knew the one word needed - No! No is not impolite. No is a perfectly acceptable answer.Â
No is not a rude word.
I still have the last day to go on my 21 Day Drawing Challenge, but I’ve started my February project already!
Day 20 -Live Drawing (31-Jan-2016)
of the 21-Day Drawing Challenge with Von Glitschka
I went to South Bank Parklands and drew a knobbly tree and the statues outside of the Nepalese Pagoda. Then I was getting hungry so I drew a couple of quick sketches at the station while waiting for my train.

It was a bit too big to fit on the scanner.Â

Day 16 - Drawing Design (18-Jan-2016)
of the 21-Day Drawing Challenge with Von Glitschka
The more I do these challenges, the more I realise they’re coming from an illustrator’s point of view. Which makes a change from the realistic art style of most learn to draw books, but is a little frustrating because I’m not used to it and I want to do more a comic style.Â
Maybe I’ll simply approach future challenges with a comic style where possible.Â
I got a pack of 5 fine liner pens in different widths today. Most of this page was drawn with the 0.1mm one, just trying it out. I haven’t drawn much in pen before.Â
I’m thinking of keeping a simple diary like this of what I do each day.Â

Day 15 - Boxing Dinosaurs (17-Jan-2016)
of the 21-Day Drawing Challenge with Von Glitschka
Now that I’m back at work, I’m definitely finding it harder to find the time to do these daily challenges. This one didn’t take too long, but some take a couple of hours to do.Â
Day 14 - Reality is Boring so Distort it (16-Jan-2016)
