Born on December 19, 1991, in New Jersey, Tyler was known as a talented violinist, a thoughtful student, and a kind young man. In 2010, he began attending Rutgers University as a freshman.

His roommate secretly used a webcam to stream and share private moments from Tyler's dorm room without his consent. On September 22, 2010, Tyler posted a brief message on social media indicating that he intended to jump from the George Washington Bridge. His body was later recovered from the Hudson River. He was only 18 years old.
