People often talk about designers having talent, but all I’ve ever known is obsession and relentless hard work. Over 20 years ago when I was about 12 years old I copied this album onto tape for a friend and designed this label and insert. I was incredibly lucky that my mum happened to work from home and so I had access to a top of the range Apple Mac with the latest design software and an HP Laserjet printer. I very carefully measured the cassette tape and case, then translated those measurements on to the computer. I spent hours trying to replicate the iconic OASIS logo and picking just the right font. The end result was still pretty mediocre, but I had to start somewhere. All these years later I still work just as hard and I’m still just as obsessive, but I now have over 20 years of experience behind me. 20 years of iterating and making mistakes and in the process building a deep understanding of design. #relentless #obsessive #hardwork (at Ashley Heath)
