He clearly wasn’t convinced. “Come on, it’ll be easier with two.” He suggested, handling the wobbly opposite end.

Aleisha blushed as it was a bit obvious of her struggle, “Yeah... Actually that’d be great.” She sighed in relief as the stranger offered again, thankful that he was there because if not, her stuff would be all over the floor

“Agreed. In New York, it’s natural, it’s elegant. It has history. There, it’s just trying too hard.”

"I don’t know if i would label it as natural, being there only being one major park. As well as New York does compensate a lot, lookin’ at all those buildings and all.. But it’s nice, better than Chicago, that’s what counts.” 

Nate’s widened as she explained her line of work. A smile spread across his face. “That’s absolutely amazing! Congratulations! That’s really really impressive,” he said with another smile. “Me? Well, my job isn’t as cool,” he said with a laugh. “I’m a forensic scientist. And I play music at night. Definitely not as glamorous.”

Aleisha couldn’t help but smile at Nate’s extreme enthusiasm about her occupation, finding it adorable how astonished in a sense that he was. “Oh god, you’re too sweet, thank you.” She gushed before cocking her head a bit to the side, “You’re job is so much cooler!! Like honestly.” Aleisha started off saying, her jaw dropping as he spoke, “And you play? Not fair.” 

“Thank-you, again you’re too kind.” Poppy smiled, eyes scanning the cluttered room. It wasn’t messy or dirty, just disorganised. “I do. I love it.” She leant back against the table. “It is the best. I’m only in the office two days a week and the rest of the time, I work from here. Pyjamas are definitely accepted, encouraged even-” Poppy faltered for a second, still smiling. “Sorry… You’re really cute and I’m- really bad at this.”

“Need a hand with that?”

“Oh no.. I’ve got it, really.” Aleisha insisted as she struggled to walk into the apartment building, carrying a box of her stuff that she was slowly taking out of storage and into her apartment, “Thank you though.” She said with a weak smile at the stranger 

They were both standing there, just smiling at each other. For a moment, Poppy had found herself caught up in the blonde. That moment was soon interrupted and Poppy cleared her throat, gesturing for Aleisha to follow her down the hallway and into her apartment. “This is my place. Excuse the mess. I do a lot of my work from home.” 

‘’Oh, it wasn’t your music that was bothering me, it’s a dick from a couple floor’s below. Don’t worry, you’d definitely know if it was your music that was driving me crazy…I don’t exactly have a filter.’’ Octavia explained ‘’I’m just very very picky when it comes to music….an extremist some would say’’

Aleisha nodded her head as she listened to the girl, “Oh well that’s a huge relief.” She sighed, already intimidated by the brunette who not only had eyes that could kill, but apparently quite the tongue on her as well. “Well what kind of music is it that you like?” 

“So there’s definitely a reason I never chose to move to Chicago, and I can’t tell if it’s the combination of the weird pizza or superiority complex about being better than New York, but I don’t like it. I don’t like it one bit.”

"As well as their need to try to upscale everything, like... Who actually wants a giant silver bean? Only Chicago of course.” 

“Maybe you are that bad, then. I promise not to complain to the landlord about your terrible singing as long as you invite me next time you decide to have an impromptu karaoke session. My sound system sucks. And by sound system I mean that I put my iPhone 4 on full volume inside of a cup.”

"I am, but i’ve learned to just embrace it. Oh of course love, please join me, the more the merrier. That’s awful, i’m going to get you one for christmas now.. or your birthday. Whichever one is closer,Wait.. Here i am asking about your birthday and i don’t even have your name, oh god i’m terrible i’m sorry. I’m Aleisha, i should’ve said that earlier... hmm?”

There was something about the blonde that made Poppy want to get to know her more. A grin tugged at the corner of her lips when Aleisha agreed to spend more time with her. “Oh you missed a bit-” Poppy noticed, referring to the blonde’s hair. Stepping forward, she tucked the stray hair behind the girl’s ear. She lingered a moment before clearing her thraot. “Right, I’m just down here.”

“Kindness doesn’t always equate to respect. I could be super sweet to you, and secretly be talking shit behind your back. Look, I’m an honest kind of gal. I’ll say what I feel, however I want to, to anyone’s face. If you’re not with it, then get to skippin’, honey.”

“I can already tell you that you won’t get very far with that attitude. Good luck with that...” Aleisha mumbled as she started to walk away from the girl, annoyed and confused. 

“You can’t be that bad, or else whoever Liam is would have told you to shut up. Unless Liam is a cat or something, in which case he might just hide under the bed or rip up your favorite shirt. Halsey, yeah? I’m into a few of her songs myself, she’s quite good.”

"He has, many a times in fact.” Aleisha laughed quietly, “But no he’s my roommate, a actual moving living human in fact. She really is though, i wish i learned about her earlier, i feel like i’ve missed out on so much.” 

“So you’ve been listening to her album non stop but you can’t remember her name?” he asked. “Yea, I definitely do like her. Well, sex isn’t hard to write about, I’m sure. It’s a pretty straight forward thing. And you can always use auto tune so..”

"Oh no, i knew her name, i just didn’t think that other people would... Guess i’m not as ahed of the bandwagon as i would like to be.” Aleisha said, her face heating up with embarrassment, “Well then it must just be hard for me, and i don’t think auto tune would save me. I’ll just stick to comedy, no singing involved. And if it is, the worse, the better.” 

Victoria nodded, and started off towards the bedroom. “Fine, fine. I’m cute but you’re still a super model.” She teased setting the boxes down. “Is that everything or is there more?” She asked turning to face her. 

I honestly this album that someone in the building has been playing all week. And it’s driving my crazy.
