hiding behind metaphor

Longtime hobbyist. Actually a tiger, avid gamer, fiction adorer, & dragon fanatic. Hates lineart but still does it, no consistent subject matter outside of my own characters, guy of a thousand sketches.

I love my characters. A lot. (though I do have a very obvious favourite!)

I use a Wacom Intuos Pro (M), Clip Studio Paint (old version), sometimes Paint Tool SAI 2, and various traditional tools.

Do not draw my characters without permission*. *Unless we're close/mutuals/for ArtFight. Not open to trades/collabs/requests.

if we're cut from the same cloth yours, made of golden silk expertly spun and carefully woven; yet mine, of scraps and pieces scattered across the boarded floor and now i find myself in the humbling (and incredible) place of watching you, constantly thin the spool to make me gilded

and what a wonderful joy he might be handed (one he could never accept) to be delivered himself at a banquet table and from a silver spoon

i can never tell if you're a metaphor, or if i'm a simile (i don't think i'll ever answer the latter) but i know that whatever you are, i'm hiding behind you, behind a sword and a shield, behind hands that would cut through hellfire and back just to take mine, and have them cease cease the shaking, the grasping at nothing, the clenched fists, the clawing, that has left gouges in everything i have ever loved the hands that can't loosen their grip on anything (least of all your own) i (we) can only hope, pray, beg that i never have to let go
