“That’s pretty smart. Most people seem to forget that they have their wands for lighting cigarettes. You should have seen how many people asked to borrow one back in my partying days,” James said, laughing a little, “How have you been, Alec? It’s been a while.”

"It’s the same with lighting fireworks - every year I’m hearing the same thing over and over again,” Alec shrugged. He wasn’t annoyed with people, but he wouldn’t mind if they just stopped and thought about potential ways out. “It’s been alright, I’ve been rather busy with work, but I’m glad to have a short break now. How about you?”

“You know, I wouldn’t mind starting the new year without us fighting. Or rather you being still angry with me. I’m not going anywhere, Alec, so how about we make up here and now?” Percy asked his friend quietly. He tried not to look too desperate, but he missed him too much to pay more attention to that minor detail.

He knew his sister was happy and Percy… Percy was happy too. He knew it was time to let it go, but... “Alright,” he said shortly. “ But I don’t want to know any details, she’s my sister after all.”

Alec looked at Percy with shock. “Hate you? I don’t hate you,” he told him firmly. “Where did that come from? I know we haven’t been in the greatest place, but I could never hate you, Percy.”

“I don’t mind the thrills of the other rides and everything, but this- this is my favorite.” Molly commented, looking over the safety bar of the ferris wheel as they rose higher into the sky. “And the night looks so beautiful, so clear you can see so many stars.” She sighed wistfully looking over to the other. “I’m very happy right now.”

He put his arm around Molly and kissed her on the cheek. “I could stay here forever,” he confessed. “It’s like we’re in a completely different world and there’s just two of us,” Alec added, closing his eyes to pretend for a few seconds that what he just said was the truth. He opened an eye when Molly suddenly felt weird in his arms and he almost stood up when he saw she was no longer sitting next to him. “What the fuck?!”

“Yssssss!” Came the excited and triumphant sound from behind the apple that Reid had managed to snap his mouth around. He fist pumped the air and picked it from his mouth, though not before taking a bite and chewing on it. “Mm… So I mean, that didn’t take too many tries at least.”

“If only there was a better prize than an apple,” Alec drawled. He was already soaked, but he hadn’t managed to get the apple yet.

“Sweetheart, haven’t you heard? I’m not like the Mulcibers.”

Alec smiled at the other softly. “There are some similarities, even if you don’t want to admit that there are.”

“I didn’t think of that.” Penelope spoke, her eyes going a little wide at the thought of not being able to escape her boyfriends bragging of winning the competition. “It’d be wrong of me to sabotage, right? I mean, it’s not like I could with my ankle but I could get someone to do my dirty work for me.”

“I don’t think anyone would blame you if you tried,” he chuckled. “You would be only looking out for everyone. And he doesn’t need to know so it would be a win-win.”

Molly couldn’t help but let out an ungraceful snort at the others words, “You’re definitely too young and too athletic to be complaining about that.” Molly commented looking to the other, “But you know I won’t deny you a massage if it means it’ll help you feel better.”

“That was what I was hoping to hear, my dear,” Alec grinned and then kissed his girlfriend on the cheek. “You’re always so thoughtful.”

“A light shove still has the capability to escalate the situation,” she noted. “Let’s just go in and hope we get lucky, huh?”

“I have a feeling you’re overthinking this a bit,” Alec gave her a little smile. “Besides, we can always apparate to some other candy shop.”

“You just have no faith in me,” Adeline said, “And it’s rude, Alexander.”

“I have been called worse,” he said with a chuckle. “And I know you Mulcibers like to win, so you can’t blame me for questioning it.”
