Bourbon so rare to VA that you have to be on a waiting list for 2-3 years to get it. Costs over $130 for a bottle of 20 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky.
Liquor Store-ies
Yesterday was pretty eventful, considering we're normally used to high traffic on Saturdays. VCU was celebrating their Winter Commencement Ceremonies across the street from where I work, so I was able to sell some half pints and minis to parents, and a few expensive bottles to the fresh graduates.
A regular bum was able to snap a photo of me on his cell phone, but when he came in later to do it again, I informed him, "One per customer" and he stopped. I retreated into the back of the store where my boss was watching him on the cameras, and as we were watching the live feed, he grabs a 750mL bottle of Burnett's and slipped it into the pocket on the front of his hoodie. My boss called VCU PD and within 5 minutes they were in the store letting us know they had caught him on the corner down the street from our store.
We had run out of blank CD's so I to run to Kroger, where there were none. I tried the Lowe's right next door, and they were unhelpful as well. At Dollar Tree I found a pack of 3 blanks and 4 cases for $2.10. Once I returned to the store, the video evidence was handed over to the police and I was able to clock out and go home.
No recipes this time, but I'll be giving my mom several fresh Egg Nog's and Evan Williams Hard Cider for Christmas. I'm hoping she likes the tastes!
A Hard Earned Drink
Yesterday was an eventful day. At about 2:17pm, a young man in a black hoodie, tan shorts and black shoes came into the store, grabbed a 750mL bottle of Absolut Orient Apple, slipped it into his pocket pouch and ran right out of the store. Since I was able to retrieve video evidence of the perp, I had to call VCU Police Dept. They sent me to the Richmond PD and I finally placed my claim.
A woman told me that the penny ($0.01) is "going out" and that her purchase of $6.46 should have been told to her as $6.45 or $6.50. I told her the penny is still around, so her total is $6.46.
A notorious homeless man, "Bootsy," decided to fall down drunkenly in front of my store, and since he has already been banned for threatening us with a briefcase bomb, the VCU PD were called once more. Naturally, I yelled at him not to come in the store and that soliciting was prohibited by law, but I think the VCU PD were able to get through to him better than I was.
As for drinks!:
My roommate Mel and I tried the Stirring's Blood Orange Martini Mix from World Market with Absolut Citron, Finlandia Mango, Pinnacle Pineapple and Finlandia Raspberry.
Absolut Citron was delicious
Finlandia Mango was even better
Pinnacle Pineapple was the best!
Raspberry smells amazing, but the taste doesn't live up to the hype.
