”3am. I am lay wide away on my bed, listening to the sound of the rain collide with the glass of my bedroom window. I am motionless, staring into the canopy of darkness that covers the ceiling.
Then, at 3:04 a wave of discomposure crashes over my consciousness. I no longer hear the rain, only the anxieties that run through my veins.
I realise that I have to be at work in three hours and fifty six minutes, so I turn over onto my side and pull the blanket to cover me.
I try to relax, but the wave turns into a tsunami of uncertainty and I begin to worry if what I am doing with my life is the right thing. I am not even sure what the right thing is anymore. Half the time I find it hard to grasp the concept within humanity, we’re all just bodies of stardust and cellular walls, making entertainment for ourselves with money, governments, technology and arguments. When I look at it from afar, we are just bacteria living on a rock in the middle of a capacious universe. So is it imperative that I get up in three hours and fifty three minutes?
I am a creation, I was built, and therefore I will fall apart. Like everything, I will come to an end and collapse into oblivion. Is it significant that I make the use of this lustrous world before I get lost within the obscurity?
3:10am. I exhale, the rain has stopped, I close my eyes; I have to be awake in three hours and fifty minutes.”
