the devil prefers girls
using violence to liberate people from sweatshops, unsafe mines, and grinding poverty isn't the same as using violence to impose those things on people. the idea that violence is morally repugnant regardless of context is a belief that every oppressor throughout history would love for the oppressed to hold
my take on deborah (and ava)
Reposting this edit I made last year, after the latest ep bc my point still stands… Deb is fighting the comphet demons and it is fascinating and tragic to me!!!!

the kiss
The Sopranos S02xE07 “D-Girl”
literally the first moment of the show like the first thing we see and hear is deborah making a joke about how bad men are in bed and how she's thinking of "accepting melissa etheridge's dinner invitation," and she and ava have that talk about examining your sexuality, and since the beginning she's talked about how she and frank had the same sense of humor and how gratifying it was to have that in common with someone you love, and now she and ava have this amazing connection where they share a sense of humor and they're each the one the other wants to impress, BUT ava really sees her and doesn't try to diminish or one-up her like ava from the start has pushed back against deborah making herself the butt of the joke to her own detriment, and they've been through some insane ups and downs but ava is still there still choosing deborah which deborah's never experienced before like ava who definitely wants a romantic/sexual relationship consistently gives those up for deborah no matter how she tries to push her away, just like...this season is really hammering home how similar her relationship with ava is to her relationship with frank when it comes to the good parts but how different it is when it comes to the bad parts, frank left her for her sister and ava lied to her sister to manipulate her so deborah wouldn't have to give up some salt and pepper shakers, I'm going insane over here!!!!!! they're literally roommates

“I can’t tell you where a poem comes from, what it is, or what it is for: nor can any other. The reason I can’t tell you is that the purpose of a poem is to go past telling, to be recognized by burning.”
— A.R. Ammons, “A Poem is a Walk”
