it means "promoting or conforming to a worldview of heterosexuality as the norm/default"

a relationship between a man and a woman isn't "heteronormative" because it's about the two individuals in the relationship, not about the views of society re: sexuality and romance. it's just heterosexual (or M/F or male/female, if you want to allow a bit more leeway for bi or pan people)

"her boyfriend totally calls the shots; that's such a heteronormative relationship" = this person means to say "a relationship with conventional gender roles." Not the right usage but I see it a lot

things that are heteronormative; parents talking about their little girls future husband or boyfriend (not even considering that she could be gay(this inr is also amatonromativity, girlie could be ace or aro or both!)), pamphlet about domestic abuse in the therapy clinic talking about the reader as a woman and the abuser as a man (cant account for women abusers in wlw or guy victims in mlm relationships (or even a woman abuser and man victim in this case.)) Sex ed in school only explaining how to have safe and protected hetereosexual sex (not how to have safe sex between two men or two women), only heterosexual marriage is legal (why should others get the legal benefits of marriage if only m/f couples exist right???)

Things that are heterosexual but not heteronormative: a guy saying that girl over there is hot. A girl having planned her dream wedding since childhood and finally getting to have it with the perfect guy. A woman making a stan account for a member of a boy band. A teen boy putting bikini model posters up in his room. A girl and a boy going for a date.

Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.

That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. Die Gedenken Sind Frie baby. This is all a reaction to people getting uppity about their lowly lowly rights and is being propped up by the same bad actors tht have made life unlivable. Fuck that shit.

YOu know it's always really funny when these tech giants (Or whatever you call owning tumblr dot com) get really antsy about laws considering they pick and choose which ones they abide by.

Users then use a button to preview and/or visit a random webcomic from the selection. There's filters for ratings and current running statuses. All sized archives and skill levels are welcome!! Completed, discontinued, hiatus, etc - please submit them! Someone out there will be so happy to read what you've put out into the world!
