These are robots made of cardboard who’s mechanism is based on pop up books. I created these as part of a class called Robotics for Creative practice.

midi2dmx is a small piece of software I created as a way to learn openframeworks. It uses two ofx addons (ofxMidi and ofxDmx) to convert midi control info into dmx control. In other words you can control theatre lights with a keyboard.

This is a map I made by plotting approximately half a million points at the locations of hotels around the world. I made this image in openframeworks for a class called Interactive Art and Computational Design.

Created in processing. See it in motion here.
Another Panoramic Thermal Cinemagraph. I created this as the final part of my final project for my experimental capture class. Tumblr may not show the moving image. Click here to see it in motion as well as the full write up.

A Panoramic Thermal Cinemagraph. I created this image by stitching together many images and one video captured by a thermal camera. I created this as part of a final project for my experimental capture class. Tumblr may not show the moving image. Click here to see it in motion as well as the full write up.
Based on Norman Mclaren's Canon I created this piece with a partner for my Experimental Capture class. The animation was created using a full body motion capture rig. You can read the full project documentation here as well as find an executable version of the animation with audio and control over the camera position.
Today in my robotics class we had the chance to use a large Motoman industrial robot. As a first experiment we created a simple loop that moves the a slinky from hand to hand.
Interactive 3D scan of an old Rubik's Cube
I made this interactive Rubik’s cube by 3D scanning an old cube that I’ve had for 10 years and then importing the scan in to Unity 3D.
Just over a year ago I worked on a stage production of Razia’s Shadow. Today I made this remix of the origanal poster. I used spray paint, a brick, and just a little bit of photoshop. The original poster was designed by Kaitlin Brasfield.

I recently production/stage managed a production of Bat Boy: The Musical with YETI. I’ve been looking for an opportunity to work on Bat Boy for years and I’m really happy to have had that chance. Above are a few of the production photos.
My new portfolio website.
This is my new website. The site is a way for me to show off my work in a more professional context then tumblr.
I recently worked on the live projections/cameras for an event run by VIA at the Carnegie Museum of Art. There were performances by Kelela, Dinner, and Juliana Huxtable. My role mostly consisted of setting up the computer systems that ran the video as well as some mapping and programming. The system included two computers, one running Unity 3D with live interactive visuals and the other running Millumin for mapping and mixing. There were also two live cameras feeding in to the system. The output was sent to two 8K projectors.
I've been working with pop-ups for the last couple of months. First I created a computer simulation of pop-ups to help in design more complex cuts and folds. These are images of some of the things created with that system. I’ll post a more comprehensive write up in the next few days.
I recently had the chance to teach the Freshman Stagecraft class all about projection mapping. I took this class just a few years ago and I was very excited to be able to teach the things I wish I had learned at the time. We used pico projectors as well as full sized projectors. Each group started by mapping very simple shapes. As they succeeded I presented them with harder and harder objects to map to. We used Millumin to teach the fundamentals of mapping.

This past semester I took a class called Mediated Reality. In this class I've worked on augmented reality using GPS and image target tracking. These are photos from some of those projects.
This past semester I took a class called Future Stages. A group of actors, directors, and designers create experimental theatre pieces in a large warehouse with access to projectors, cameras, sensors, lights, rolling walls, and more.
