Anyway! So my friend Krist has been spilling some juicy deets about her book Dark Suns (And even showing me some chapters) and I just had to draw her bb Jude (whichcoughisbasicallyGorocough) because I have brainrot about him.

Made this drawing for and adult reunion Shuake AU that’s been on my mind.

Hi! I’m hoping onto Tumblr to promote our Shuakeshu Art server! It’s been opened very recently but it’s already super lively and everyone is really nice!

Basically, the idea of it is for us artists to have our own little community where we can support each other, learn about art together, and intellectually discuss The Boys. (Read: Making incoherent noises)

Goro:

This is my translation of the unused version of Goro’s Third Awakening, which you can watch here. The subtitles missed a few things, and I wanted to try my hand at translating again anyway, so here we go~

Goro: How nostalgic. It’s been some time since I last spoke to you.

[Ren’s dialog]

Goro: Reminiscing, huh? Hah, we can do that. Though it is a bit bitter for me.

Goro: First things first–you have my thanks for making the deal back on the ship.

Goro: According to you, in the true reality, Shido’s heart was changed and he was arrested, yes?

[Flashback happens] [Ren’s dialog]

Goro: You truly are… naively honest, huh?

Goro: Originally I wanted to settle the score with Shido on my own. That was the only way (lit., It was the only path). Sorry to say it, but I don’t owe you for what you did. You’re the one who owes me; I lost my chance at revenge because of you.

[Ren’s dialog]

Goro: Do you mean you can’t understand it logically? I see. My position may seem suspicious, but there’s no other option here. That is how I truly feel.

Goro: Maruki distorted reality in an attempt to fulfill people’s wishes. But such a reality is only a paradise in his eyes. It’s no different from what Shido did.

Goro: It’s not worth living in a reality made to satisfy someone else.

[Ren’s dialog]

Goro: I truly do envy you. You’re so uncomfortably straight-forward. I can’t understand how you can live that way.

Goro: Talking with you now has brought it all to mind. I do not accept this reality. I’ve had enough of living like a puppet on a string.

Goro: Let’s go back home, to our reality.

[Third Awakening]

Goro: Hah, this is… What a rush! I won’t hold back anything anymore! (lit., I feel high! I’ll run wild as much as I please!)

Goro: You still have it–my glove. I haven’t forgotten about all that. I will never lose to you. Bye.

Hey remember when I made that post saying that Shido and Maruki are similar and a Maruki stan jumped on my dick and made a hateblog about me to tell me how wrong I was? Well, the devs agree that Shido and Maruki are similar too lmao

Anyway, I think this conversation is fantastic. I’m not sure if I’d prefer it in place of what we get on 2/2, which is far more emotional, in a more intimate setting, and centers both Goro and Ren’s feelings, but I do rather like the discussion. It comes off more like a normal Jazz Club convo in the third semester, so I’m glad that they decided the Third Awakening required a more pivotal scene. Pity it had to come so late in the game, though…

I’m seeing more “Goro is a mass murderer” discourse so I replayed P5R three times and checked my Goro Kill Count infographic. Turns out I did miss one associated with Kayo Murakami, but the method is not confirmed. It is heavily implied to have been a metaverse hit, however (and it did happen on the same day as Murakami’s mental shutdown), so I have put it in there.

That brings the total number of deaths for which Goro Akechi is responsible up to nine if you get the good ending. If you get the bad ending, it goes up to 11.

I’m not going to opine on this post about if they would be considered murders of any degree, manslaughter, etc. This is just my attempt at giving an objective record based on the facts provided in canon for anyone who wants to have a discussion about him, like him or hate him.

According to what I know about the Book of Genesis… about the Adam and Eve story, the forbidden fruit comes from the tree of knowledge. The forbidden fruit DOES NOT symbolize sex (idk why people be mistaking it for that). It symbolizes awareness. Awareness of the forbidden knowledge. Adam and Eve were unaware and innocent but when they eat that fruit, they become aware about the forbidden knowledge (awareness about the world they’re in, awareness that they are naked etc.) that causes them to act upon that knowledge. Their disobedience causes them to be banished from the Garden of Eden.

In the case of P5R, Ren and Akechi represents Adam and Steve respectively (Gay version of Adam and Eve). The forbidden “knowledge” is the awareness of reality and that the dream world is fake. Ren and Akechi were already aware that the dream world is a fake reality when it began. They were aware of the strange happenings that everyone else was oblivious to. They act upon this knowledge, and it eventually throws them out of the Garden of Eden (the dream world).

Steve (Eve), was the first to eat the forbidden fruit and become aware. Steve then gave the fruit to Adam for Adam to eat so that Adam will be aware too. In P5R’s case, this happens at the beginning of the 3rd semester story. Akechi comes to Ren to have a private talk with him. To discuss that they’re living in a fake reality.

Lastly, this also explains why Ren and Akechi in the “bad ending” picture are the only ones looking at us (the player). They are AWARE just like how Adam and Steve became aware.
