“I’m afraid the prophets won’t forgive me”

I have red the official novel Imzadi Ⅱ, in which Tom was rescued out of the Cardassian labor camp only to get involved in a conspiracy of the Tal Shiar. Another official novel I red which has some story about Tom is The Poisoned Chalice, he being recruited once again by Star Fleet to take part in an almost suicide mission. At the end of the novel, Tom accepted that his best destiny is to stay in Star Fleet, near Will. It's very logical, but how cruel it is for Tom! He would have to witness another man, with exactly his face and his talent, obtaining everything he ever dreamed of in his life, yet he could not share even the tiniest slice of the success and joy.

Then I began to watch DS9 and I realized DS9 is the home for all the outcasts of their own world. Garek, Odo, Worf, even Quark, had all found home in this chaotic yet heartwarming station. So I think becoming a DS9 crew would be the best way for Tom, an outcast of his own life. He would become the perfect second officer of Sisko, an humorous and trusted friend of all the crew, and hopefully could find his love someday.
