“I can’t make heads or tails of this. But Kafuka maybe it could just be a lost kitten or something like that. Most of these urban legends are stories that people tell to keep kids away from doing bad things..”Glenn said ofcourse being ever the skeptic. “But if there is anything wrong or dangerous, I will protect you…Okay Kafuka?”

     ❝ At first I also thought it was a witch’s familiar too, but it’s different. Like Osaka okonomiyaki and Hiroshima okonomiyaki! Even though both are extremely good, they still have their own ways of being made. A cat’s energy is different from the energy in the forest. ❞

The overly positive girl continued walking deeper into the woods passing each sign that warned children to stay away. Since they were meant for grade schoolers, it hadn’t been as though she was doing something wrong. Even more so when she reached the ten foot chainlink fence that sectioned off this area of the woods. Without a second thought, Kafuka successfully throws her bag over, and follows suit as she climbed over Dusting off her hands, she patiently waits for Glenn to follow.

“Nice to meet you, Henko-chan.”Glenn said as he smiled at her. However something stuck out to him. She was leading him to a nearby park. The same park that his sisters were currently at. Wait is this going to be a picnic? He just hoped that his sisters wouldn’t find them sitting together and eating.

“Ah ehmm well I have been here for almost a year I think. I decided that I would stay with my sisters side of the family for now..I guess I am slowly getting used to living here.”Glenn responded to the College girl’s question as they were preparing the small dinner they would have.

     ❝ A year, huh? That’s longer than some other foreigners. Unfortunately, many weeabos people come and think it to be exactly like anime, but then are extremely disappointed when they find out that it’s not. In fact, they become overwhelmed with the difference in culture and up moving back. ❞

A brother living with his step sisters? That certainly wasn’t the plot of ki** x s*s, and she would refrain, at the moment, from mentioning it to him. Though, perhaps someone like Nami would fine a way to bring it up. Yeah...the extraordinarily normal girl was good at those kinds of things, so Kafuka knew she could count on her.

     || ooc: a common theme that i’ve noticed in the manga is that kafuka does not include herself in the “lineup” for nozomu; more than not, she’s the one to incite the romance between the other students and him, but she never participates. for example, in one chapter they talk about adding corners so things eventually come to a circle so as to avoid conflict. so naturally, kafuka starts throwing the girls on him, but doens’t throw herself. there’s a girl that looks like her, but it’s debatable if it’s actually her though. in another chapter, there’s a play on schrodingers cat, and again she puts the girls in boxes for nozomu to chose as a romantic partner but does not go in a box herself.

“Huh?”Glenn wondered who was greeting him all of the sudden as he turned around he noticed it was the College Girl that somehow reminds him of Mei even though she looked less like Mei compared to Kafuka. “Ah it’s you ehmm…”He never really got her name but he did recognize her. “You know my name is Glenn..I guess I am free for today so I could join you.”He took her up on her offer however he had to wonder if there wasn’t anything strange behind this.

    ❝ Ah, my name is...Henko Sousha. It’s a pleasure to officially know you, Glenn. ❞ 

Of course, she’d never invite him to her home-- it was...under construction, for lack of a better term. Hence, she carried the curry, rice, and other necessities within a wicker basket. Instead, she beckons him to follow her to a nearby park which contained an eating area. Kafuka makes a mental note to give him from the normal pot rather than the set aside ration meant for that neighbor.

         ❝    .  .  .    ❞    he  glances  back  and  forth  between  the  girl  and        whatever  it  is  she’s  working  on.  he  probably  should  have  double  checked  first  and  scanned  the  area,  he  realizes,  but  he  had  correctly  guessed  that  the  library  wasn’t  open.  he  arches  a  brow  at  her,  then  silently  communicating:  i  thought  that  this  place  closed  at  nine.

It had been that time of the month to check out that book again, and Kafuka considered herself lucky to reach the library on time. When all was said in done, Kafuka initially planned to immediately head home stopping momentarily to check the time on her phone. However, it seemed she moved the object too quickly and the numbers blurred in front of her. 

That’s when it came. The all familiar pull which forced her to sit where ever she was, (no matter the place), reach into her school bag, and pull out her small notebook and a pen (the book had been tucked inside). Insistently, obsessively, writing repeating numbers that made no sense to her-- not like she could find the words to describe them, they were numerical symbols after all. At best, she deduced them to be a message from outer space; a species that only used this specific set of numbers. 

She’s three pages in, when the voice she thinks was said out loud disrupts her flow of thoughts. Good. That was a good thing. That was always a good thing. She rubs the ache between her index finger and thumb while looking around for the source of the voice, and only finding a pink haired man instead.

     ❝ Oh? What’s this? ❞

“You better return him whole.”Kyou said as she waved at the “couple” as she went back inside to make sure Kafuka got the photo album in her e-mail.

“So what’s the job about?”Glenn asked Kafuka as he tilted his head.

     “I have to warn you, it’s quite dangerous, but we’re dealing with some paranormal occurrences in the local woods. I was able to recharge my spiritual energy, and I noticed a lot of vibes from all over town, but they’re strongest over there. Simply put, I want to investigate and document what ever or whoever is in there. If we’re lucky, we can befriend them.”

Kafuka leads the charge to their destination, past the playground where most of the children dare not enter-- their mothers keeping them from doing so. She takes out her notebook, flipping past random obscene drawings and obsessively written numbers to the most recent page. It contained a bunch of random squiggles and dotted lines,
