Levi is not traditionally romantic. He didn’t exactly have a traditional upbringing so his socialisation in that department is lacking
However, he has his own particular ways of demonstrating affection and consideration towards his partner, and if Levi is in a romantic relationship with someone then we can safely assume he and his partner know each other extremely well – it takes a while to really understand him because he’s not typically expressive at all, so patience and good old-fashioned experience are key
Levi is surprisingly physically expressive with his partner once they’ve agreed to be together.
He’s been affection-starved from a very young age, and finding himself in a loving relationship brings back how beautiful it is to love and be loved by someone. He hasn’t really felt that kind of thing since his mother died
Kisses very deeply. He isn’t one for frivolous little pecks or absent-minded touches; when Levi touches his partner it’s because he really wants to, he’s completely there for it. It’s very meaningful to him
Likes to press his forehead to his partner’s and will stay in that position, memorising the feeling of being so close to them, for minutes on end
For the first months, maybe even the first few years of the relationship, Levi is extremely hungry for lovemaking. Again, affection-starved – Levi hasn’t felt a lot of pleasure in his life, so finding out that something can feel so incredibly good is like a moment of spiritual revelation for him
Of course as for all long-term couples the newness of the experience wears off, but making love remains a very significant act to Levi. He’s not the man you get into a relationship with if you want sex to be a casual, light-hearted thing
(That’s not to say there’s no humour with Levi! In fact he is pretty easy to get along with once you understand all his quirks and tempers, and if his partner can get on board with his shit-based comedy then they’re destined to be together forever)
Date nights aren’t really a thing with Levi because he’s so incredibly busy with paperwork and work duties, and that’s when he’s not away on missions for days or weeks at a time!
When he gets the chance to spend a good stretch of time with his partner, Levi is very particular about being alone with them and savouring the peace and quiet, maybe with some fine food and wine he’s cadged out of the Survey Corps budget
Levi has a very large bathtub.
That’s because one of his favourite romantic activities to share with his partner is to lie in there with them – already freshly showered of course, Levi would never want to spend an extended period of time lying in dirtied water – and do all the things lovers do when their naked bodies share an enclosed space.
If Levi were to do the Five Love Languages test, his result would be Acts of Service. He naturally expresses himself with actions rather than words, and this translates into his interactions with a romantic partner
He cherishes being able to do things like carry things for them (heavy or light, he’s taking it, he’s Humanity’s Strongest after all so what does it say if he doesn’t carry a shitty package for his lover?) or pre-emptively complete errands for them
All while swatting away their words of gratitude, of course – what, they think he does this shit because he wants to be praised like some kind of fucking golden retriever? (but also don’t stop, he likes to know that you’re happy)
If Levi is going to give his partner a gift, it’s going to be extremely significant.
He isn’t going to spontaneously pick a flower for them on his way back from the market; his presents mark important moments or dates, and that’s if it’s important to his partner in the first place – he’d be willing to not do presents at all
Levi remembers every little thing his partner says. He might not be very responsive but he’s extremely perceptive, always listening.
This translates into little things like marking passages in books that he thinks his partner would be interested in, or items for the house being chosen specifically in his partner’s favourite colour
All in all, Levi is not conventionally romantic…but his own special brand of romance is all the more touching for its rarity.
