The beast doesn’t need to transform to be loved. He doesn’t have to turn into a boring fucking prince to be loved. Or renounce to the essence of who it is. To me love is not transformation, love is acceptance and understanding.

Holy shit, this one post has made my whole day. No, actually, it’s made MY ENTIRE LIFE. All of it–worthwhile, because I got to see something as amazing as this. When I was watching The Prince of Egypt as a kid, I always loved Ramses. His voice was so unique compared to other characters I had seen in movies, and my child mind thought that the way Moses treated him was kind of sucky. Like, I’m sure Ramses would have done whatever Moses wanted if Moses had agreed to stay and hang out with him. In the end, that’s all that Ramses wanted: Moses to stay. I love that this comic brought Ramses’ family into this. I’m sad that we didn’t get to see his daughters/wife much in the film. And that moment when he asks his daughter not to “leave him” before she is grown!!! Right in the feels!! The loss of his son was so impactful on Ramses (as the loss of a child is to any parent). It broke him. I love how this comic brings out Ramses’ fear of losing another child. I’m sure it’s a fear that will be with him always. And the way that it’s colored/shaded is so beautiful. The dark green/blue background really brings in the feeling of despair. And the tone change at the end, showing Moses going into a new life while Ramses is stuck in despair…brilliant.
