                 ON ANY GIVEN day, he wouldn’t make his footsteps so profound.                but he’d been watching this kid. only briefly enough to know he was no                          IMMINENT threat to himself or the group. and so, when he emerged,                       crossbow raised, finger steady & poised over the trigger, did he                   immediately take heed of the bloodied knife, the exhausted state of the                               boy and mess splattered upon his front. he doesn’t speak.
