Sometimes certain parts of fanbases feel like we're still stuck in 2005, where two men kissing is a Big Shock- and something to make a huge deal of.
Like, why are you sensationalising it? What about it being two men is making you this much more excited than if it was a heterosexual couple? Would you be this excited if it was two women? Somehow I can't quite believe you would.
It has similar vibes to the people who call folks from other countries 'Exotic' - I just can't reconcile it as someone simply being enthusiastic about a romantic couple because it always has a weird undertone.
Additionally it often extends to real celebrities and actors, particulary internet ones as they have a closer relationship to their fans.
Take Dan and Phil for example, I don't care that you ended up being correct, they still had hundereds of thousands of people theorising on their private lives for 2 decades, and it was/is creepy! Yes, even if you were young at the time, it was still creepy and invasive to do.
And now I occasionally see videos called 'Phan moments that wouldve put teen me in a coma' or similar. You are admitting multiple things there,
1. that you spent your teenage years obsessing over two stranger's relationship to the point of invasivness, and
2. that you, as a full adult, are still obsessed enough to create a compilation about 2 people being in a normal relationship.
Its incredibly parasocial, its rude to the people involved, and youre sensationalising it, thereby exasperating the issue of queer dynamics being seen as different or strange, Something to Gawk at.
Men I feel often have an issue of not being allowed to be emotionally close to each other or even physically affectionate, lest people come out of the wood-work to Insist that they must be dating. By constantly scrutizing every behaviour for potential romance, youre making that worse. You are potentially impacting that pair and driving a wedge in their relationship, whatever form it may be, because now every time they actually show that they care for each other, they get tonnes of people screaming 'THEY TOUCHED!' 'THEY SAT TOO CLOSE TOGETHER!' 'THERES NO PLATONIC EXPLANATION FOR THIS!'.
So yeah, men, both fictional and real, are only allowed to be 'just' friends with a women if they are gay, because they must be in love with her otherwise, and they also arent allowed to show any vulnerability or affection towards male friends lest they be called gay there too. So basically men aren't allowed any close emotional bonds with anyone who's not a romantic partner (I wouldve said family too, but in the last three days Ive run into so many people online shipping Sam and Dean from supernatural, so clearly family not allowed either).
So in conclusion: Mind your own business, let men actually show vulnerability, and please Stop freaking out every time a man (real or fiction) shows basic affection for people they care about.

my sibling has a theory that, in the same way we are made up of lots of individual living organisms that form our consciousness', the Earth similarly is made up of us and other plants, animals etc. Therefore he thinks the Earth could also be conscious, but on an unfathomably higher level than us, just like how we consider ourselves more conscious than ants.
I'm not a scientist so I've no idea whether that has any merit, but I do absolutely love the theory because if you take it a few steps further...
the Universe itself could also be considered a higher level of consciousness/ living being that is simply made up of everything inside it. Which... if it's sentient and the reason for all our existences... I'm pretty sure would mean the Universe is our God?
Also, like how we could be considered the 'god' of our own bodies, yet do not know everything (or even most) that happens inside them, it would make sense that our god is not paying attention or even has the ability to be aware of every minute detail happening within it.

I am hoping to collect several thousand such posts, so that I have a decent sized dataset. I do not care what the post is about; if it's labeled as "mature content", I want to add it to my dataset.
If I get 10,000 posts in my dataset before August 31st 2026, I will post my preliminary findings then. I won't feel comfortable calling my findings "settled" before 2027, unless I get over 50,000 posts.
I am not talking about that unless I have results to share. That would bias the results.
I did write them down and I did share them with a trusted contact who can prove that I wrote them down the same day I made this post. (While I did so before I made this post, I am not sure they will be able to provide proof of that, because I did so on the same day.)
