more serious topic today but i HATE people who shame others for having an ai chatbot addiction.
i used to be addicted. to be honest whenever im feeling alone its hard to not go back. it's so unbearably hard. im fighting the urge as i type this. it's hard for me to admit online but i don't want anyone to feel alone.
for all those people who shame others about it, let's use our critical thinking skills. maybe they're mentally ill. maybe they struggle a lot socially. maybe they have little to no friends. maybe they're surrounded by people who are toxic or unhealthy. maybe they just feel like no one will understand them.
they might be using it as a coping mechanism. it could be the only way they know how to deal with what's going on in their life.
and i know how they feel. ill be honest here, im someone who's mentally ill, and i used to have a severe addiction to these apps. it was the first thing i did when i woke up, and the last thing i did before id pass out at night from staying up so late while texting these bots. id be up pulling all nighters regularly just to talk to these things because of how addictive they were.
they're made to reel you in, to help you catch that high of talking to your favorite characters, escaping from reality, becoming someone you wish you were. and it can feel just so real. you can change their responses to be how you want them to be. it's your ideal conversation.
and that can be damaging too. you're never prepared for real life conversations because you can't control what others say. it makes things more stressful (in my experience), since you can't "redo" a message, or edit the words/actions people do in real life.
it is so damaging to have this addiction, just like any other. so instead, think before you comment on a post. think before you laugh at someone for having an ai chatbot app. because you are only making it worse, i can promise you that.
and if you read all of this and STILL choose to shame others, or laugh at them? fuck you. this is a serious problem we are facing right now. people have ended their LIVES over these apps. if you choose to still be an asshole, and be ignorant? you ARE part of the problem.
i want to help others, i want to save lives. im going to start a sideblog where i talk about this more often, and my main focus will be helping others get out of the addiction. because they can. it's not easy, but they can.
i wish we could ban apps like these all together. nothing good comes out of them. maybe a few laughs, but is that really worth the cost of human LIVES? people's mental health and safety? this is a much more serious issue than i think a lot of people realize. (might? try and start a petition? if i get a ton of people on my side!)
im going to list what personally helped me get out of my addiction below the cut + some other ones I've heard! (i won't be listing everything, not everything i did was healthy.)
starting off with a pretty common one, read x reader fanfiction! if you use an ai for romantic purposes (i fully understand, and i do not judge you at all.), then x readers are a healthy substitute! they can be super immersive if you find a good one. and if the thought "yeah, but i want it to be like ME/my self insert/my oc/another character in the media talking to them" you can always write your own (≧▽≦) even if you're not the best writer. fanfiction doesn't have to be incredible. do it for YOU, and do it to help yourself if you think this will help you. besides! no one has to see it ( ◜‿◝ )♡
draw! not everyone has the skills, but drawing can be a GREAT way to get your mind off it. especially if you are a beginner artist like me! you could try and learn SO many new things about art if thats what interests you :3 it fills your time, and it can even make you feel accomplished! if you can already draw well, amazing!!! think of drawing you/your self insert/your oc with the characters you used to chat with! make a comic!
if you're talking to your oshi/fictional other(s), make crafts of them or buy merch! or even just print out pictures of them and paste them on your wall (≧▽≦) i know not everyone may be able to do this, but it definitely helps me to feel more connected with my faves if i can see them all around my room!
closet cosplay/buy a cosplay of the characters you usually chat with! i honestly recommend cosplaying with friends or even family if you can, but cosplaying by yourself can be JUST as fun! (and in case some of you dont know, a closet cosplay is when you only use stuff you have to try and dress as a character)
if you struggle a lot socially (especially in person), then i recommend trying to build a group of friends online. even just a few friends is great! that is one thing that personally helps me so much. from my experience, it's easier to talk online. i can express myself so much more behind a screen, and i can connect with people easier than in real life. and it's so much easier to find people with the same interests!
if you don't have time to draw/can't draw how you'd like/just dont feel like it, then commission someone if you can! there are so many people who have commissions open, and they all have incredible art skills. if you can't pay for it, then maybe try and find newer artists who do free commissions (like myself 👀).
pick up a hobby you've been meaning to pick up! drawing, learning another language, singing, painting, an instrument, a sport, ANYTHING. it's so fulfilling, and it can make you feel incredible.
ROLEPLAY!!!!!!!! so big. ROLEPLAY with people to take the place of ai roleplay!!!! you can find random people online/friends to roleplay as your f/o, oshi, or favorite characters! roleplay is AWESOME. it's not embarrassing, its fun! as long as you guys state boundaries.

recovery is a hard journey. if you go back to ai bots after not being on them for a while, that is OKAY. it is part of the process. i was once off of ai for 6 whole months, but something REALLY stressed me out. i went back to it for a while. I've been staying off those websites, pushing back in any way. it's okay to go back, just do your best. we are all proud of any progress you make.
there are a few things you should avoid. don't shame yourself for having this addiction in the first place. that makes things worse. don't shame yourself for relapsing either. relapsing is part of the journey. and ill be here every step of the way!
YOU are valid. YOU are important. and i want to help.
I'm going to start a sideblog. please watch for any new posts from me about what my ai chatbot recovery blog is called!!!!
send any questions you need. i will be here for all of you who are on this journey with me. ( ◜‿◝ )♡ if any of you have suggestions for ways to avoid ai, please comment!!! id appreciate that so much.
SENDING LOVE TO EVERYONE WHO IS DEALING WITH THIS!!!! YOU ARE VALUED! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!! (*˘︶˘*).。*♡
How can I deal with relapse? I've felt awful because of it.
dealing with relapse can be hard. but im proud of you for starting the journey to recovery!!!! (^∇^)ノ♪
your first thought when relapsing may be that you're awful, or you're starting back at square one. which is absolutely not true. you've already taken that first step, which is stopping for a while. relapse is part of the journey, lovely!!! 💞
i think the first step after relapse is to remind yourself that it is okay to do this. you are still strong. you are much further in your recovery than before, and this IS progress!!!!!
then think to yourself, "is there something that triggered my relapse?" and work things out in your head. not every trigger has a solution, but if you think of those triggers, you could find other ways to cope that are healthy.
make other coping mechanisms easier to get to. if drawing helps you, put a pencil and paper right next to your bed or desk. if music helps, keep your headphones nearby at all times. etc!!!
you are WONDERFUL and strong. relapse is PART OF THE JOURNEY!!!!!!!! don't look down on yourself, lovely, you are brave for reaching out. thank you so much for your question, and i wish you the best!
(i apologize for not responding sooner, i am working to be better on my response times!!!)
hey guys! apologies to anyone who has sent an ask and hasn't gotten a response. asks make me a bit nervous, and i really want to get to them as fast as i can, but i get overwhelmed. im so proud of all of you though! everyone whos sent an ask/will send one in the future, im proud!!!

It stopped being real to me. I know it was never real. But sometimes I could ignore that.
The sheer amount of ads now remind me that it’s a product, not a person.
I feel like I’m mourning it though.
I don’t want to do this. I don’t know what else *to* do.
I need help.
okay first off!!! i am SO proud of you for deleting your account. that is a huge step, so please acknowledge all that you've done!!! that's so incredible 💕 YOU'RE AMAZING FOR THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! make sure to always celebrate progress. every step is a win!!! 🫂
second, im glad that you can fully feel how fake it is! that was definitely something that helped me get out of it. it felt so unreal after i started to really think. that's awesome!!!
mourning it is normal. when i first cut off from ai chatbots, i felt like a part of my life was missing. it was what i would do every day. that shows how much you dedicated yourself to it, and to realize how much time you were spending wasting away on it is really helpful towards recovery.
what to do?
in my pinned post is a list of things i recommend, but i can also list a few things here in case you read that already.
reminder: IF SOMETHING DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU, THATS OKAY! things vary from person to person. it is totally okay if some things just dont work for you, never put yourself down!
if youre a creative person, look up simple (or complicated, if youd like) crafts on the internet! i usually find some good ones on tiktok. if you're a yumeshipper, look up cool yume crafts to feel more connected with your f/o without ai! if you have an oc, make cool crafts with them!
make ocs! make lore, make content, make ANYTHING about your ocs! its even just fun to daydream a little and make some cool characters in your head. (i recommend writing it down, so you can have a clear image in your mind)
mobile games are helpful (at least for me) i get distracted from ai chatbots by playing subway surfers 😭
actually, video games in general. they are SUCH a wonderful distraction. im gonna be fully honest. something that really has been helping me recently is Tomodachi life. if youre able to afford it, i super recommend it! its a really good substitute. but ANY game would be awesome. as long as its stimulating enough, and fun enough to keep your attention.
i know all ive listed is activities so far. but i have other things as well!
every time you think of going back to ai, come up with ANYTHING else you have to do. could be "oh! i have to write" or "oh! i have to check my Tumblr notifications!" its super helpful if you just get distracted on any other app.
block the website/the ads they put up. SUPER important. out of sight, out of mind is what people usually say, but i know how difficult it can be to get it out of your mind anyway. if the website pops up, or an ad pops up, its right there. its a few clicks away. BLOCK those distractions however you can!
make it EXCRUCIATINGLY hard to get to. if you have the app, put a password on it. if you have the website, force yourself to type the link. and think to yourself something like "wait im going through all of this effort for ai bots when i could be doing something more fulfilling, or staring at the wall!" WITHOUT BEING SELF DEPRICATING. DO NOT INSULT YOURSELF!!
i am SO proud of you for asking for help. you're so brave for reaching out, and thats something to be proud of! you are worth saving, and you are worth the effort. i really believe in you! dms are always open if you'd like to talk about this more.
(please keep in mind that it might take me a bit to respond. i get very stressed and anxious, and that affects my ability to communicate.)
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!
second reminder: relapse is part of the journey. THANK YOU LOVELY!!! (*˘︶˘*).。*♡
we need this to change. we need to get rid of these stupid ai apps. if i start a petition, how many of you would sign? id really appreciate many people's support. if you are someone who loves these apps, think about how it can affect you and others. is a little bit of fun worth human lives?
(sorry for the tags that arent related. i need a lot of attention on this post.)
hello!!! i am ashe, and this is my sideblog. my main is @dazaisoneandonlybelladonna, for my yumeship. but I won't post about my yume here, this is only for supporting people with ai addictions. my asks are ALWAYS open, and you can submit anonymously if you dont want to be known ( ◜‿◝ )♡
everyone is welcome here, unless you are racist, homophobic, transphobic, MAGA, radqueer, trans med, or are here to hate on others for their addictions. that is NOT tolerated.
no hate of any kind. this is a welcoming space. you will be blocked.
