Truth

It was like you held a manual in your hands. You understood everything about me, what made me tick, what made me come alive, what it took to make me fall in love. It was like you memorized the steps to enter my thoughts, open my heart, and start up every emotion.  You had me figured out, with just a flick of a switch and I was all yours; yours to love, yours to leave, yours until the death of me.  You built me up, started my hopes and dreams, only to disassemble me. The directions to love also came with ways to destroy me.

Our love was a traffic light: stop go and slow down
 Our first meeting was a green light, everything was go go go. Full speed ahead on a open road. Nothing was there to stop us just love as a driving force. The love I thought we shared was so strong it gave me the illusion of flying, my head was in clouds while the wheels turned on the ground. I had seen the warning signs to yield, to slow but I chose to ignore them until the warnings turned to reality and we crashed and burned. Our relationship was damaged bent and screwed. But the memories of the past acted like cushioned air bags trying to save the wreck. So we 
picked up the pieces and took another ride. Only this time I had the warning signs in the back of my mind. We yielded, stopped played it safe but we could never get to full speed ahead. To much damage done. Just the confusion of what I thought was love. Looking back now I can see you had your seat belt on the entire time keeping yourself safe at any moment notice while I, the fool in love, felt every bump and turn and was left in the wreckage.
