streamer university was only five days long.
five days of creators stepping into a fake college experience filled with classes and competitions, all while thousands of people watched every moment live.
and out of all the professors brought in for the week, everyone expected adapt to be the one who made the most noise.
because professor adapt wasn’t exactly what people pictured when they heard the word “professor.” he wasn’t boring. he wasn’t overly serious. he was the type of professor who would tease you for getting an answer wrong but still make sure you understood the lesson by the end.
he joked with everyone. he teased everyone. he treated every streamer the same. except, somehow, he treated you just a little differently.
it wasn’t obvious at first. not enough that anyone could call him out.
like how he always seemed to notice when you were confused before you even raised your hand.
“you good?” he’d ask from the front of the room.
you’d look up, surprised.
“yeah, i’m just trying to figure out this part.”
and instead of moving on, he’d walk over and explain it.
“okay, look. don’t overthink it.”
the class would laugh, but everyone noticed the smile he tried to hide.
“why did he immediately notice her 😭”
“professor adapt has favorites”

you tried ignoring them. “guys, he’s literally just doing his job.”
“no because he does his job with everyone else but he does EXTRA with you”
to be fair, they had a point…
on day one, when everyone was getting settled, adapt handed out the schedule for the week. everyone got the same information. except when you mentioned you had a stream planned after class, he reminded you about the time.
“don’t forget you’re supposed to take a break before then.”
you looked at him. “are you telling me to rest?”
“i’m telling you that you’ve been staring at a screen for six hours.”
you smiled. “are you worried about me, professor?”
the second you said it, everyone around you reacted. a few people laughed.
adapt raised his eyebrows. “careful.”
“making me sound nicer than I am.” adapt said.
the room laughed, but chat? destroyed.
“HE KNOWS WHAT HE’S DOING”
by day two, it became a joke.
everyone started noticing how often adapt ended up helping you.
if you had a question, he answered. if you got nervous before a stream segment, he was somehow the first person to tell you that you’d be fine.
“you’re overthinking again.”
you looked up at him. “you’re starting to know me a little too well.”
he held your gaze for a beat. “maybe.”
“…that’s a bit concerning.”
“only if you’re planning on giving me a reason to forget.”
you blinked at him before laughing.
“im kidding.” he smiled. “mostly”
then, more quietly, “you’re good at this. trust yourself.”
and that was the problem.
because adapt was supposed to be the professor.
the person everyone looked up to during streamer university.
but with you, he forgot to act like he didn’t care.
by day three, the other streamers started teasing him.
in the cafeteria, marlon caught adapt looking in your direction and immediately started wiggling his eyebrows.
“you know everyone thinks she’s your favorite, right?”
adapt laughed. “she’s not.”
marlon’s eyebrows only wiggled harder. “then why do you remember everything she says?”
“i remember everyone’s stuff.” adapt stated.
ronaldo looked up from his phone. “no, you don’t dude.”
adapt opened his mouth to argue, then stopped.
because he did remember. your favorite drink. the fact that you hated being put on the spot. the fact that you always tapped your fingers when you were nervous.
things a “professor” probably shouldn’t notice.
but he did, and apparently, he wasn’t as subtle as he thought. every time you spoke, his attention drifted toward you without meaning to. every time you looked uncertain, he was already answering before anyone else could.
your chat caught on first.
day four came and went in a blur. between challenges, filming, and everyone refusing to let the “favorite student” jokes die, there was a barely a moment to think.
which was why day five came faster than anyone expected.
everyone was filming their final tik toks, squeezing in one last challenge, exchanging numbers. promising to stay in touch. the university had been so loud all week suddenly carried that bittersweet feeling of something coming to an end.
you were live one last time, wandering around with your camera and giving your chat a final tour.
“it’s crazy that this is already over,” you said, panning across the room.
your chat, unsurprisingly, had other priorities.
“ASK ADAPT IF HE’LL MISS YOU”
you laughed, shaking your head.
“im not asking him that.”
“asking me what?” adapt said.
your stomach dropped. you turned around to see adapt standing a few feet away, an amused smile already spreading across his face.
“nothing.” you said a little too quickly.
he folded his arms. “…that sounded suspicious”
your chat immediately exploded.
“ASK HIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMNSSHSJ”
you looked between the camera and adapt before sighing. “fine.”
you rubbed the back of your neck, suddenly finding the floor incredibly interesting.
“my chat wants to know if you’re going to miss me.”
for the first time all week, adapt didn’t answer right away.
he looked at your chat, then back at you. his smile softened.
it was quiet. a little tooo quiet. because he wasn’t looking at the camera anymore. he was looking at you. your chat absolutely lost it.
heat rushed off your face as you laughed the comment off, quickly changing the subject before your chat could make it any worse.
a little while later, the stream ended.
everyone exchanged hugs, including your friends like yonna and crystal, took one last group photo, and slowly headed home.
you figured that was it. five days, a few unforgettable memories, a handful of viral clips, new connections, potential collaborations and enough teasing to last a lifetime.
until your phone buzzed later that night.
