HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR MAN OF STEEL, HENRY CAVILL!

I know some of you are still processing this situation, but he did everything we were asking him to do. There’s nothing more he can do. He’s not going to block WS. Not all the actors would interact with his fans to try to give them a voice to explain why they’re upset with him. He has showed that he’s a humble person and also Cait is sooo proud of him (she likes his tweets today…). With time, I hope everybody can see it the same way I do. All of you are amazing fans, you promote the show, you adore Sam/Cait. Let’s continue being like that. I hope everybody can be happy from now on. Come on, we can do it! We deserve to have a happy place here 😘

And if you REALLY feel the need to say something why not be I don’t know…decent about it? Like “I like his hair in a man bun better, but can’t go wrong with that smile!” instead of…calling him girly, scary, gay (that’s my favourite, how does one look gay???), or comparing him to Donald Trump. It’s not hard. (PS. His hair was actually a side part. Not a comb over. A comb over suggests hiding baldness…which one “fan” did suggest he was doing… a side part is the look he was rocking)

We (mu husband & I) went to RingCon without knowing what should we actually expect of an event like this. Never been to any fan convent before. All I knew was I’ll be probably coming back home as a broke. And sure I was! But first things first. When we arrived, Outlander panel was already on. We reached the hall and met with a bouncer by the door who said this is the place for people with platinum-golden-silver tickets only (we bought daily tickets). We entered through another door upstairs and landed up in some kind of gallery, faaaaar away from the stage and from the guests on it. I’ve taken about 50 photos on a huge zoom, but maybe 7 of them actually show anything. But never mind. Right after the panel I have sought the place Diana was supposed to be having photoshoot with fans. I was one among the first few and waited there for about half an hour (photoshoot was apparently delayed for one reason or another). Then finally they said we can begin and some guy appeared asking about my ticket. Seeing it’s normal, he ordered me to go to the very end of the queue, because it wasn’t golden nor silver. It made me very sad after waiting so long already, but ok., I didn’t know the rules yet. Taking photo with Diana reminded me of some factory. Click, next, click, next. Not a chance to talk to her even for few secs. I left there very disappointed but I was glad with my photo and with Diana’s kind words complimenting my outfit. It was about 14:00 o’clock, so I headed directly to the autograph’s room. On the spot turned out ppl with golden/silver/normal tickets will be split out again. My group could come back on 16:15, namely during Diana’s lecture I didn’t want to miss. I had to choose, so I chose Sam. I don’t know how long did it take us to finally reach him, but I was happy and excited like a little girl, I stopped noticing my aching feet, I saw only him, just about 10 meters before me. My bad mood dissappeared. I saw Duncan sitting alone by his table, wanted to go there, but I knew that if I leave my queue now, it will take much longer than it already did to get Sam’s autograph. Sent a kiss to Duncan from the distance. He replied with this adorable hand gesture we know from the movies: a bow without bowing. I promised myself to go to him right after I got my autograph here, but even before I reached Sam, Duncan, Graham & Gary were already gone. There is only one word I can describe Sam’s behavior towards his fans: WOW! He was so nice, so kind hearted, even with these sore fingers of his. He complimented my and my husband’s outfits (Jan wore an official Dutch-Scottish friendship tartan vest). Then I said I brought him something and showed him a 1kg jar of Dutch peanut butter I was carrying the whole day with me. He thanked me and said he would start eating immidiately if he could. I asked for the photo, because sincerely we were already so tired, we wanted to go home asap instead of waiting another few hours in the queues. The lady sitting on Sam’s right side said they have a busy schedule, are already too late, and I should be going. Out of despair I asked for a hug instead, the lady got irritated, repeated what she said before and told me to move. I felt stupid, embarassed of myself and quite miserable then, my eyes moisted (hoped nobody saw it). And suddenly Sam got up and hugged me, making this whole rotten day up to me. I was so drunk of happiness and so moved by his behavior, I forgot to take his autograph with me. This made him laugh. Then I joined next queue: Diana’s signature, another hour waiting, but I was still so high after hugging Sam, I almost didn’t notice any discomfort. 19:00 o’clock, time for Sam’s appearance. We were so exhausted I don’t remember much of it, I was just happy I could sit and let my feet rest. Besides I didn’t see much from the place on gallery anyway, I closed my eyes and listened to Sam’s voice. Suddenly my husband told me to leave the room and to check the queue waiting for Sam’s photoshoot: hundreds of ppl! While Sam was still inside, talking. I joined the queue, it was growing bigger every sec. Thousand ppl at least. Poor, poor Sam, I thought! I don’t know how long have I stood there, but I recall my husband bringing me cup of tea and some chocolate bar to sustain me, because we didn’t have a time to eat anything of substance during the whole convent. Finally the queue started moving, flowing in and I flowed along with it, bit by bit. I saw few girls quareling with the staff (they just left the lecture’s room) who were refused to join the queue due to the late hour. Felt very sad for them then, how would they know it’s better to leave the lecture earlier? I wouldn’t, just got lucky. Finally we reached the photoshoot, Jan bought one photo for himself the very last moment. I went inside and didn’t notice Sam at first. He was drinking the water by the table. Suddenly someone pushed me forward, shouting to move on. All I remember is Sam saying: „Hey, it’s you!” and wraping his arm around me, his firm belly beneath my shaking hand. Never felt more special before. Then Jan replaced me and I heard them both laughing, grinning to each other as if they knew each other their whole lives. It felt surreal. What happens when the two sunshines collide? The whole world is sparkling. I fell in love with both of them. Seriously. Two gentle giants with smiles too big for their faces. Suddenly it was all over, Sam was gone, but both of us left the convent smiling. I was so tired, hungry and aching, yet happy and feeling blessed. Sam made it all right for us. I’ll never forget these moments and I’ll never forget Sam’s scent nor the touch of his body. He was real. Wish I could meet him again somewhere, just to see those eyes smiling at me again. Even if i know he smiles this way to every fan who approches him. I’m smitten. And even more in love with my wonderful hubs than before. Thank you, Sam!
