your translations are such great work! i recently played your Death Note patches and they were lovely! :3 one question: do you plan to translate any otome and visual novel games for the ds? (like Will O’Wisp and/or the hakuoki games etc.). keep up the good work!!<33
Thank you for your support! We don't tend to plan translations in advance, just decide what to do at the point of starting one, so we couldn't say what our future projects may be!

Mayday, mayday, it's May Day and we're back with another update!
[PS2] Fullmetal Alchemist 3: The Girl Who Succeeds God
In our last report, we mentioned that the game was crashing during the credits sequence. This was a major issue as it meant that New Game+ saves couldn't be made. We were able to track the problem down to an empty string that hadn't been accounted for, and the crash has now been fixed!
There are still some visual issues with the credits (text not being aligned), as well as a handful of other tasks to complete, but being able to play through to the end of the game definitely feels like a big step-up.
[NDS] Death Note: Successors to L
As mentioned in a recent ask, the translation and image editing for Successors are complete, meaning the remaining work is mainly bug fixing/text polishing. This is where the magic happens to convert the game from 'an awkward experience that was clearly not meant to be played in English' to 'something that feels like an official English release' (or as close to that as possible!)
Would you guys ever consider finishing Fabstyle’s translation since the project is seemingly abandoned?
Sorry for the delay in response! I can see from the Discord that the last update from Mooshy was in 2025 after a few years hiatus. We would always try to get in contact/collaborate with the original team first, but I see no reason why we couldn't consider finishing it if an interested translator became available. I will add it to our request list :)
Sorry if this has already been asked! But do you guys ever plan on translating Ouran High School Host Club for the DS?
There's already a project underway! It's being made by Team Lobelia and produced by the OHSHC- The Manga Dub Team. We aren't affiliated with either team so don't know the current status, but the project's Twitter account has been active in the last month :)

heyyy!! how far is successors to L into development??🥹🥹
Pretty far! The translation and image editing are complete. There's still a few technical issues which are causing trouble, and the translation needs a bit more testing/polishing. Unfortunately we can't predict how long it'll take to complete the remaining work, but we are chipping away at it when we can!
Found out about you guys and your efforts recently, thanks for getting all these old games translated finally! Though I was curious and had a question, what was the hardest game to translate for you guys? Both in the literal translating part and the coding part?
Oh, interesting question!
Coding-wise it would be Bakemonogatari (PSP)! There was a lot of work done in assembler to handle the complex text rendering. The game reused the same strings for the vertical dialogue options that you're given and the horizontal subtitles which are displayed, so Illidan wrote a system to automatically convert the orientation. The vertical text boxes also had a shorter character limit, and the horizontal lines had to be centred which took a fair amount of time and research to figure out.
For the translation part, I'd say probably the Spice & Wolf DS games. Not only was there a lot of text, but there was also the challenge of getting Holo's archaic tone to feel spot on. We referenced the official LN translations for a lot of the terminology, and even had a vote on how to romanize the original place names in the first game.
Thank you for your support! It's slow going, but we're still alive! We've found and fixed some small issues, and had plenty of debates about the varying translations styles across the series' official media. It's been a struggle to find the time to do some of the more time-consuming tasks which are still on to the to-do list, but they haven't been forgotten about.
The easiest way to access them in-game would be through the "VOICE" menu which unlocks after you've completed a character's route. There, you can play different voice lines and the character's sprite will change accordingly. You don't know which sprite you'll get until you actually play the line, though.
The tool we created for the game does also extract the sprites, though they are quite fragmented so not in the easiest format for browsing. For instructions on how to use the tool, see the README file.
Are the Death Note games translated based on any official translations? (e.g. English dub, subs, and manga by Viz Media)
The Kira Game translation is based on the official English dub, whereas Successor to L and the ProLogue to Death Note are more of a mix between sources (different translators with different preferences). We do try to refer to official translations as much as possible to keep things consistent :)
Heyyy!! I just finished playing both of the current translated Death Note games and I really enjoyed them! I saw that the translation of Successors to L is currently in progress. I was wondering if you could please provide an approximate date of when it's going to launch. Thank you for all the hard work!!
Thank you for your support, we're glad you enjoyed!!
We can't say when the patch is likely to be released unfortunately, as it's difficult to predict, but we'll do our best to get it out in a timely manner!

I just wanted to thank you first for all your efforts, they’re immensely appreciated especially for a millennial like me who grew up with most of these animes and wasn’t able to play any of the licensed games because they didn’t get localized.
They were already requested before, but I’d like to also add my vote to the durarara games and baccano if that’s okay. I’m a huge fan of both and Narita’s writing, and sadly fans were too busy translating the mangas and light novels back in their heyday before we managed to get them officially. Thank you again!
Thank you for your support, and happy new year! I will update the request list with your votes :D
The Series of Haruhi Suzumiya v1.0 Patch Published!
A fully playable English patch of The Series of Haruhi Suzumiya (涼宮ハルヒの直列) for the Nintendo DS has been released by the Haroohie Translation Club!
A visual novel/puzzle game, play as Kyon as you work with the rest of the SOS Brigade to keep Haruhi from discovering the unnatural phenomena occurring all around you. Find out more and grab the download here!
And just like that, another year has been and gone! We wish everyone a very Happy New Year from all of us here at the team.
In the spirit of new starts, this post is going to be a bit different as we're looking forwards at the work which still needs to be done to show you a snippet of what goes on behind the scenes!
[NDS] Death Note: Successors to L
As mentioned in our last post, we've not officially opened proofreading slots as we want to solve some remaining issues first, so we thought we'd detail some here. (NB: This is not an exhaustive list.)
This is not a bug per-se, but did you know that due to the lack of canon character colours at the time, some character sprites in the game don't match their anime counterparts? This is something we want to change, and Leggy our fantastic graphic artist has already made new sprites for, although inserting the new colour palettes isn't a straightforward task.
These next two issues both involve character names. In the left screenshot, the character nametag isn't centered correctly, which is an issue that's occurred in several other games we've translated. In the right screenshot, some junk letters are printed at the start of the line.
And since it wouldn't be fair just to talk about what's left without acknowledging how far we've come, here's two screenshots of now-solved issues!
[PS2] Fullmetal Alchemist 3: The Girl Who Succeeds God
FMA3 has now been through two proofreading passes, and is awaiting its final pass once all the known bugs have been fixed!
The most serious remaining bug is that the game crashes during the credits. We've had similar issues with other games before, largely because the names are much longer when spelled out in the Roman alphabet than in kanji (e.g. "荒川 弘" vs "Hiromu Arakawa".) Of course, making sure all of the text aligns correctly is on our list too.
There are also a handful of images left to edit. The image format in this game is quite different to the others we've worked on, but thanks to a tool made by our hacker, Illidan, it is possible to visualise how they work.
Lastly for this list, proofreader KahnerC is looking for help from a Japanese translator for a personal FMA-related project. We won't go too much into the details here, but those interested can find out more by joining our Discord Server!

If you haven't already heard, our friends over at the Haroohie Translation Club have just released a complete translation patch for The Series of Haruhi Suzumiya on NDS! This was a mammoth project which has been years in the making, so make sure to check it out!
And if you've made it all the way to the end of this equally mammoth post, thanks for reading!
Hi there, First I want to say, I’m extremely excited on how far the FMA 3 English Patch is coming along, I’m very excited to play it soon when it’s ready. Plus I want to ask if you have plans on Translating Fullmetal Alchemist: Dream Carnival (PS2 Fighting game) and one other FMA PSP game called Fullmetal Alchemist: To the Promised Day.
Thank you for your support, we hope you'll find it worth the wait!
All of the still-untranslated FMA games are on our request list (including the Wii games too), though we don't tend to plan in advance, we just decide on our next project when we're ready to start it :)
This might be a stretch, but is there any chance you'll add any of the Jikkyou Pawafuru Puroyakyuu titles to your request list? I'd love to see any of the ps2 games be translated!
We do take on non-anime games if there's a translator interested!
Of the Power Pros franchise PS2 games, it looks like only the MBL spin-off titles Jikkyou Powerful Major League 2 and Jikkyou Powerful Major League 3 received an official English release as
MLB Power Pros and MLB Power Pros 2008 respectively.
That leaves Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 2009 untranslated. I'll add them to our list!

Hi, they aren't currently on our request list, but I'll add them now!
You may already be aware of this, but it's worth mentioning that the PSX game has a translated video playthrough by the amazing EnvyPlays.
Thank you for your support! Gakuen Hetalia is on the request list, I'll make a note that it's been requested again!
I did see posts on reddit from two different people claiming they were working on a translation within the last year. I don't think anything has come from those so far, but it seems clear that there are still people interested in working on the game.
