This sounds cool! What is it and what do I have to do?

The TMFU Gift Exchange is exactly what it sounds like. You sign up right here by filling out the request and offer forms. After the sign-up closes, your offer will be matched with someone else’s requests and your requests with someone else’s offer anonymously (not necessarily the same participant). Once the matching is done, this gift exchange appears then under Assignments on your AO3 account with your assigned requests. From those requests you choose a prompt and write a fic for it with at least 1000 words in English or create fanart for it. Create a gift, get a gift!

If you are already familiar with exchanges either on AO3 or other sites, nothing about this should be too unusual, but if you’re a fan of the film who would like to participate but is new to the concept of exchanges and has questions or concerns, please check out the FAQ of the collection for more info!

Future Starts Slow

As if he could ever forget Barbados. The circumstances necessitated a very specific type of cover—the only time Napoleon and Illya had been asked to fake being in a romantic relationship. It had come near the end of UNCLE’s run, which was probably a good thing, even though ultimately it hadn’t actually required much of them. A few casual yet affectionate touches in public, standing close together, some lingering looks. Not that different than how they usually behaved around each other, which, no, he wasn’t going to think too hard about. It had been easy to fall into that mindset, and Napoleon had worried that his careful mask had slipped enough for Illya to glimpse the too-real feelings beneath. But then, not even a month later, UNCLE had disbanded and it was a moot point. He was never going to see Illya again. Except now he’s staring up at his former partner, being asked to pretend he’s in love again.

(Ten years after UNCLE was disbanded, Illya asks Napoleon with help with a mission that will test their partnership and blur the lines between what is a cover and what's real.)

(this is basically a completely different 'ten years later' story lol, and this time, with 1000x more angst! just for you, ely. 😘)

The first time Illya sees him in ten years is through the scope of a sniper rifle.

It’s both horrible and wonderful, because Illya had not known for sure that he was still alive until this moment, and the relief is so overwhelming that it’s almost dizzying.

Horrible, because Napoleon is about to walk into a deal that no one was supposed to walk out of. Illya has orders to take out everyone who knew about this meeting, orders that he can’t disregard. He doesn’t know how Napoleon even got mixed up in this—last he’d heard, more than five years ago, Napoleon was spending his ‘retirement’ tracking down art stolen by Nazis during the war. Perhaps these guys were also involved in art trafficking, or perhaps Napoleon got bad intel, but the end result is this: Illya can’t let him leave here alive.

He sees the moment Napoleon realizes what is happening. As the men collected for the deal are all picked off, one by one, until only he is left. Napoleon turns unerringly toward him, staring at Illya’s location like he can see where he’s hidden in a building two hundred meters away. He can’t, of course. But Illya’s skin still breaks out in goosebumps.

He takes a deep breath. Aims carefully.

Fires.
