Shows I'm currently listening to

The Amelia Project- I am slowly catching up on this. The humour isnt aways my favourite but the plots and writing is excellent and it has absolute moments of brilliance.

Ongoing shows I'm up to date with

RogueMaker- I'm enjoying this but was slightly disappointed when they got out the pods and it became a bit more generic sci-fi. Great performances and characters though.

InCo- I've only just started this, I like the story and writing so far and am always impressed with a show where one person does all the voices! But slightly put off by the short episodes as I struggle to get in the groove of it.

Eg. Shows that have continuing plots and are told over many seasons and episodes but are not yet complete

Greater Boston- I don't think this is finished?? Are we getting more?? One of the hardest shows to describe and one of my first loves within Audio Fiction. I promise it will be unlike anything you've ever listened to and is so incredibly worth the listen.

Desert Skies- i wasnt sold on this to begin with but it has utterly charmed me now. Imagine the first stop in the afterlife is a gas station filled with the biggest sweethearts youll ever meet. Also Corson my beloved.

Midnight Burger- my love, my heart, I could wax lyrical forever but please just go listen and make your life better.

Camlann- only one season so far but belongs on this list for the excellence of that season. Imagine Ishiguro's Buried Giant but set in modernish UK and you're almost close.

Girl in Space- I'm putting this here because I think we're getting more? Tbh I need to relisten to this show but my memory is that the writing and performances were amazing and it is well worth a listen.

The Far Meridian- there's a girl and a lighthouse (but no not that one...). The atmosphere of this show is unparalleled and I adore it. There was a crowd funder for season 3 a couple of years ago but I don't know what then happened to it?

Tides- a biologist crash lands on a planet and documents her findings. I adore this show and hope it one day returns as seems to have stopped mid season. Definitely worth your time though.

Station Blue- another show with a fantastic first season where I'm unsure we'll get more? Matthew finds himself alone at an isolate Antartic Reseach Station. Not for faint hearted, both in regards to the horror and depictions of mental health but so good and creepy. 'And then something licked my hand' honestly haunts me to this day.

Arden- modern retellings (kind of) of your favourite Shakespeare plays. I loved both the first 2 seasons and the ongoing character. Particular highlight for me will always be Hamlet's soliquies being translated to melodramatic singer song writer songs (in the best way). Also the cast of season 3 is insane and I'm excited.

Victoriocity- honestly if you haven't listened to Victoriocity, this is your sign to. Spot on writing and one of my all time faves that never fails to make me laugh out loud. The world building of Even Greater London is second to none.

Dracula: the Danse Macabre- there's been so many dracula shows recently (seriously what's with that?) but this has to be up there with them. The latest showing by Long Story Short with the quality you'd expect. I don't want to give much away but it's such a good twist on the story and I'm very excited for the hints for future seasons.

Completed long form shows

My go to favorite fiction shows that run for more multiple seasons and are completed

Wolf 359- What can be said that hasn't already been said everywhere. The all time great and paved the way for many many other things. If you haven't listened, I'm legit jealous you get to experience it for the first time.

Ars Paradoxica - one of my other first loves in Audio Drama and something I still revisit every year or so. 'My name is Sally Grissom and I think I just accidentally invented time travel'. I would die for her. Time travel, political cold war intrigue and paranoia and amazing characters

EOS 10- I'm putting this in completed but I'm not 100% sure whether it's due to come back as I was surprised when the last 3 part season turned up. A space station of oddities with excellent writing, characters and performances. The spot on level between hilarious and emotional.

The Pasithea Powder- the world building and characters in this show was amazing. It had a genuinely unique vibe and I would highly recommend if you like sci-fi political intrigue with a good sense of wry humour thrown in.

Unwell- a fantastic mid-western gothic/horror with the most amazing atmosphere, characters and writing. The last episodes absolutely destroyed me.

The Bright Sessions- honestly forgot to add this before as its such a long time since I listened to it, I think it was the first I ever listened to!

Completed shorter shows

Time Bombs- oh so good and could have been a multi-season show but somehow was made better with just being 3 episodes. It's Gabriel Urbina and Long Story Short so you know the writing and production is going to be amazing even though it was written in a week. Who knew a show about a bomb disposal team could make you feel quite so many feels??

Unseen- again it's Long Story Short and an anthology about the Unseen world of magic in our life. I don't normally roll with Anthology (in audio ficton anyway) but the writing in these shows is so brilliant you are sucked in to each episode straight away.

Zero Hours- probably my favourite of the Long Story Short productions due to my love of all things history, dystopias and the connections between the two. My all time favourite novel is Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell and it's the biggest compliment I can ever give to say that Zero Hours reminds me of that book. Please go listen and then sit in the dark for a while thinking.

36 Questions- The podcast musical- I listened to this whole show one day hiking by myself and it was a really excellent day. I've not heard many other podcast musicals although I know there are some out there, but I loved this so much and regularly listen to the soundtrack. Theres Jonathan Groff, a storm and a duck.

Out of Place- I love this show so much and am still living in hope that there might be more some day. An archivist (no not that one) discovers reports of alternative universes and the teams who went to see them. I am an absolute sucker for speculative history and this is just such a good example of it.

(Note- I am not including King Falls AM in any of this even though it would once have been in my top 3 of audio fictions. This is because the way it ended mid season with no resolution was a bit heartbreaking and so, even though it was brilliant, I would never recommend it. No I'm still not over it and never will be. I'm also not including Magnus at all. I listened to and enjoyed it but not nearly as much as most of Internet seemed to, and it really doesn't need more recommendations!)

So I recently put a post out for recs and got 32 shows recommended in the space of 7 hours. This was insane and amazing so I have started to log them on the sheet below. Please feel to have a look and let me know if your favourite is missing, im always looking for things to add! I have also started a tab of shows I've tried and don't like. This is very much nothing against these shows, they're just not for me and I don't have as much time as I would like to listen to things!
