“But, if you ever do decide that you want to tell me, I’m all ears.”

“Nothing wrong, indeed,” he nodded, agreeing to what the woman said. “No, sadly.”

“It’s not too late to get lessons,” Invidia suggest with a huff, refraining herself from letting her eyes roll. “I think an old dog can learn new tricks.”

The fact that you had to ask offends me a little bit; I thought it was obvious: I was so born with it.

“I do know, thank you,” he replied. “What I don’t know is why you are complaining.  Are you Her Majesty The Queen? I don’t think so. Seeing as you are not her, I will make sure to forward your complaints to the office of I don’t give a fuck.”

“Nothing wrong with a little common etiquette,” she responded, brows furrowing slightly in disgust at his rude response. “Didn’t you learn any bit or manners as a kid?”

“You’re right, it isn’t –” she snapped.

“Hm,” Invidia chuckled at her sudden defensiveness. “But I can’t help but notice how riled up it’s getting you.”

eris’ head tilted to one side, the mischief leaving her dark pupils as she forced innocence to cloud her features. “do i look like i’m kidding? i wouldn’t lie about this. it was a very traumatic experience!”

Her brows furrowed as the girl continued with her act, unsure of whether she should believe the information or not. Three years into the job, and she still wasn’t too good at detecting lies and truths. “No, you’re --- totally kidding.”

“Spare me your lame excuses as to why you can’t finish on time. I’m fine with walking, but I’m not at all fine with tardiness and fake promises. Next time, try to not make promises that you can’t eventually keep. I want my car back at my townhouse before tonight.” he hung up, pissed that the garage was not done with his car yet. He put his phone back into the inside pocket of his bespoke suit jacket and noticed that someone was staring at him. “When do you think you’re going to finish staring at me like that?”

When addressed for her quite obvious staring, Invidia’s gaze slowly shifted away from the man, rolling a single shoulder up in a shrug. It was hard not to notice. How could she not? When he was so clearly angry, and practically sneering into his cell with a bitter tone, someone was bound to eventually. The brunette couldn’t just brush it off---it got her curious. Tossing her empty coffee cup into a nearby trashcan, her eyes narrowed slightly after he spoke. “Well, I hope you know how loud you’re being.”

“You’re damn right that it’s not, so why am I still hearing your voice, expressing your opinion about it?”

“Always so bitter,” she scoffed, chuckling to herself at his response. “I see how it is.”

“ Ah, well, I shouldn’t have mentioned it in the first place. ”

a hint of mischief sparked in eris’ dark eyes, hers hands moving to drop her shirt. “a c-section gone awry.”

“You’re kidding,” she responded, eyes narrowing slightly in both wonder and a hint of concern. She was kidding, right?          “No, really, where’d you actually get it?”

“Don’t act like it isn’t normal to do a walk of shame at 2 in the afternoon. I felt like sleeping! …..And she made me breakfast in bed. Fuck, what was her name?”

“Of course it isn’t norma---are you kidding me?”
