“Here,” Locus reached into one of his many pockets and pulled out a small data-stick and offered it up for them to take, “This has the details for one encrypted communication line and it contains a heavily detailed map of the planet which marks a number of important locations, including your assigned positions and patrol routes; do not lose it before you can download it into your suit. You’ll have to get a replacement from Felix. I only brought one.”

He hoped he conveyed the right amount of trouble she’d be in if she had to go to Felix. On ‘their’ side, no one suffered fools lightly. “You can contact me in the event of an emergency regardless of the time but I might not be able to respond.. Any further questions?”

“Gotcha.This is all I need.” DeAngelos flipped the cartridge between her fingers before shoving it into a side pocket located on her thigh. A small electrical buzz lifted the hairs on the back of her neck- her AI, Athens, had been listening closely. By the looks of it, she wasn’t a big fan of DeAngelos’s new ally (the term ‘ally’ being used lightly.)

“Thanks for the help.” She paused, chewing her bottom lip. “Actually, one last thing- will I ever need to contact Felix? I’d rather not, but if the situation presents itself...”
