Apparently everyone is making work blogs on Tumblr? Idk why or how we've chosen Tumblr, since it's officially "dead", but I'm glad I don't have to get Instagram or something. I'm quite content here on this hellsite.
Agaricus here, researcher at the Magnus Institute, London (as my new boss so kindly insists we specify. Not like we're located anywhere else.)
I guess I should give a bit of info on myself? I moved here from America a few months ago, got a job as a researcher here, and Elias (that's the big boss) told me I'd be assisting the Archival staff with follow-up on statements. They'd been doing it themselves until now! That's a researcher's job!
I specialize in field research rather than sitting in a stuffy office all the time, so I'll usually be out and about. If you see me, don't say hi, I'm working and I will be very snippy<3 I'm much nicer on Tumblr where I can erase the first thing I planned to say.
↑Just read through all of that. So many words. And I am very bad at this professionalism thing. Hopefully it'll be fine.
((OOC info below the cut.))
Agaricus is a nearly 1-1 transfer of myself into The Magnus Archives universe, with only minor lore changes. Certain details are changed to fit the TMA universe or to avoid doxxing myself.

Insert other thing I'll probably need a link list for eventually
I use safe links only. All trackers are removed. (A tracker is everything after the "?" in a link and tracks who knows who online, as well as identifies who posts a link.)

Rules:
Magic anons and NSFW are allowed, but I have the choice to respond or not and how. NSFW and suggestive content will be tagged appropriately.
Shipping is allowed, but relationships must be discussed beforehand. You can flirt all you want, though.
I prefer not to interact with children or child characters.
Please use plain text and image IDs if interacting with me. I like to keep my blog accessible for everyone, and it's easier for me to read. (You can add a plain text version of your rp response below a cut to keep your "aesthetic" version as well.)
Agaricus has no canon universe at present. You can specify if you want your character to be from an alternate universe. I will operate under the assumption that they share a reality unless told otherwise.
DNI: Anti-endos, proship/darkship/comship, radfems, radqueers, saneists, harmful paras (nothing against pro-recovery, para content is just triggering for me), basic DNI
Character Info:
On the path to becoming a corruption avatar, who will mainly deal in fungi (especially mushrooms and mold). Pre-Prentiss timeline currently.
5'7 / 170cm. Severely underweight, with some visible muscle. Has PMOS (formerly known as PCOS), and eats foods that help increase T to bypass testosterone restrictions.
Trans guy, pre-op. Binds and packs. Has gotten a lot of compliments on his "pecs" and doesn't tell them (though he refuses to outright lie). Switches between a binder and tape depending on his needs.
He/It pronouns, though he will probably say he/him to avoid the weird reaction to it/its pronouns. Aroaceflux and homoromantic polysexual.
Agaricus is 21. That may or may not be my IRL age. I don't share my exact age online, but I am a young adult.
So disabled. Like so, so disabled. If I were to list them all, I'd need a separate post. Just know he has prosopagnosia, chronic pain, is hypermobile, and he's hard of hearing. Those are the things that affect me the most.
Originally from America; sometimes slips into his Southern accent. Though he tries to sound English just to not get weird looks. (According to my English friend I have a passable fake accent, so, I'm rolling with that.)
Plural (mixed-origin) and nonhuman. Main kintypes are siren and maine coon. Does not identify as human.
Random body details: Has poliosis on his limbs, slightly webbed hands, a hairy and flexable (not flexible, flexAble. It can be a solid cylinder) tongue, probably has at least one dislocated bone at all times, covered in little scars of various kinds everywhere because instead of taking proper care of his wounds, he lets them scar.

A knock sounded on Aggie's door, and once he was let in, Agaricus entered with a biohazard bag that clearly contained remains. Whether those remains could neatly be labeled as "human" was up for debate.
"Hey, uh, I remember you said I could come down to the lab if I found something? Well... I found something."
He looked down at the hand, half turned to petrified wood, the other half still rotting flesh. "I figured we'd probably be able to figure out more about this than the police. Found it under a tree. Or- it kind of was the tree? It was sticking up out of the ground like a root."
Agatha looks up from her work to face the man. Jumping out of her chair, she looks utterly enthused
“What have you got there? Oh my…”
Putting on her latex gloves, she comes over to grab the bag and examines the contents up close. Partially, the hand is bloody, gross and every thing that rotting flesh brings with it. Interestingly, she is more interested in the wood part of the hand. After a thorough examination she replies, “I would love to help you out with this one.”
She carefully takes the hand out of the biohazard bag, placing it in a sterile tray. She takes her eyes off this specimen to face Agaricus, “Could you possibly ask around to see if we’ve gotten any statements near the location we found this?” she asks, “I just need something to go off of, and I have no idea how to work this archiving system.”
Agaricus gave an awkward laugh, which trailed off into a sigh. "I don't think our archives work very well for looking up specific statements, but I can try. Word of mouth and personal memory is probably the best way to find one in our current system."
He left through the door, and came back a few minutes later.
"Sorry, nothing as far as we know. I mean- there's the statement they sent me out to that area to do follow-up on, but that was about- I mean, that was about some kind of worm lady. I mean, I have it, if you think it'll help, but it doesn't mention any trees, and it was a coincidence she happened to be in that area in the first place."
Agaricus dug the statement out of his pocket, and set it on the counter.
“Fucking Prentiss,” Aggie groans. “all we’ve been getting down here nowadays is those silver worms, y’know with the murders and all that.” She gestures to her work station, ontop of which lies an entomology textbook, flipped to the chapter on worms.
She sighs and then continues, “Regarding the hand, yeah that all makes sense, I’m going to do some investigation, ask around the archive and see if I can get back to you about anything I find. Most importantly, see if it belongs to anything human,” she pauses, “well used to be anyways.”
Agatha takes a minute to look around to see if anyone else is listening, there’s no one else in the lab, “See if you ask me, the best place is be in this joint is in here, away from all the ‘ghosts and ghouls’,” she jokes, adding air quotes, “no way to turn into a tree-thing if you’re too busy studying”
"I actually like the risk," he admitted, taking a seat on a stool.
"When I was a kid, I saw ghosts and stuff. No one believed me, so I started to think I was crazy. But, now, with the Institute, I can go find a tree hand, give it to you, and you'll go, 'Yep, that looks like a tree hand alright'. That, plus the desire to thrill-seek, makes it worth it to me."
Agaricus didn't bother to curb his desire to overshare. He figured a backstory like that was pretty par for the course around here.
"I mean- I'm still crazy. Like I hallucinate and stuff, but, y'know. I can figure out what's real and what's not by handing it off to someone else to take a look at it."
