he feels like an idiot for not being more subtle. sure, they’ve been talking about getting married, but he wanted it to be more of a surprise. he’s definitely not ready to propose tonight. he doesn’t really want something big and showy and public, but he doesn’t want to do it in his ratty grey high school sweatpants. “noooo,” he whines in protest. “i want to something cool, don’t take that away from me, please?” still….he files the hot and cold idea away. it could be fun. just not yet.

his  presence  in  the  frat  makes  sense,  his  foster  father  had  attended  this  same  college  &&  participated  in  this  very  one  some  thirty  or  forty  years  ago.  apparently,  it’s  a  pride  thing,  but  he  was  told  he  wasn’t  going  to  get  any  help  from  them  if  he  didn’t  attend  this  specific  school,  join  this  specific  fraternity,  and  stay  in  it  all  four  years.  so,  it’s  safe  to  say  cooper’s  hands  were  a  bit  tied.  it  wasn’t  all  bad,  however,  he  had  a  group  of  friends  that  were  loyal.  and  his  roommate  was  one  that  he  knew  he  could  lean  on.  they  weren’t  that  different  from  each  other–  except  remi  was  gay,  and  cooper  was  not.  or  at  least  that’s  what  he  told  himself.  his  body  leans  into  the  touch,  putting  the  novel  down  on  his  nightstand.  one  hand  reaches  over  and  curls  into  the  other’s  hair  in  a  ‘platonic’  action,  a  soft  noise  of  understanding  slipping  out  of  his  lips.    “  what  happened  now?  ”
