I'm gonna say this. Queer ships aren't just about seeng two guys kiss, it's about being given permission to love. You government can tell you "you have permission to love yourself as a queer person" as much as they want, but if they don't give queer people permission to love each other romantically, publicly, then that doesn't actually do much, it doesn't normalize or empower queer relationships at all, it just hides them. Being gay MEANS loving the same sex, so what's the point of a character that loves that about themselves but is also the only character in the entire show that hasn't been given the opportunity to actually love romantically at all? That's contradictory.

After making this character do nothing but suffer for all 5 seasons; after giving hope to people who see themselves in this character; after planting this idea, seeing a huge fandom form and using this fandom for their benefit, not allowing anyone to dismiss it... a coming out is not enough. One queer side ship with barely no development is not enough. What actually has the potential to change the world and the current political climate would be two MAIN CHARACTERS being given permission to love each other and have their love defeat evil. That would have been revolutionary and unheard of. So no, it has nothing to do with fetish, babes. No is crashing out and feeling suicidal because of fetish. I promise.
