The blue with colors of light green feels serene

I loved these paintings I viewed during the Whitney trip . I chose these to posts because the tonal values and choice of colors and moods each artist represented

I was surprised in completing this, I’ve never painted a full piece before and I was proud of myself. I appreciated everything professor Kristen has taught me to achieve the styles

I learned that many different colors can have the same tone. I learned that taking away saturation allows you to see the true tone. We also realize that Black has different tones as well and to get a true Black he has to have the perfect balance of colorsto achieve a true black

This is my opaque tonal painting ! I was really surprised on how I had to view the painting to be able to properly apply the correct tones and values . Taking a step back from my painting did help me see the “bigger picture” or try to compare the photo with my painting

I learned that working with opaque oil paint you have to allow it to dry longer than it took for the transparent painting. Painting opaque with oil is different from transparent because you need to make sure it’s layered to fully cover the canvas. This is also the downside of painting with oil, you have to allow it to dry to continue your painting and to add depth to the piece 

Here’s my transparent painting! I enjoyed using one color and seeing the different variations I could come up with and the rag method was very cool
