Ariel the Airedale Pibble

Ariel might be a slight carpet shark. I’ve caught her a few times playing with cords and nibbling at a few things. Ariel is definitely well behaved in the house, she is mindful of you while you mosey about, usually just a sniffer to what she finds curious and etc. Unfortunately she did have a bit of a destructive puppy moment today when she had reached a magazine and decided to ultimately shred it. Some things I do leave out that isn’t valuable as a test of what a dog, or puppy, is capable of. Out of the handful or so ‘traps’ I’ve placed she’s only triggered a few.

Ariel today did also have a potty accident in the apartment.  Thankfully she did it on the tile in the kitchen instead of on carpet, she was mindful in that sense. As far as being in a shelter and keeping her area clean in the sense of potty training she does great. She holds it well through the night with Haddock and is slowly starting to get excited with the word outside. She holds still to put her collar on now, her first couple of days she tried to fight it. We go naked in the house and put on collars, harnesses etc before we go out the door.

As far as basics go…. she’s pretty clumsy lol. For a 9 month old puppy I was far from high expectations haha. But man if you say the word 'home' she knows exactly where to go.

Fun Airedale fact: The First Airedale to ever come into America was in 1881 and his name was “Bruce”. This was the start of the great hunting and working breed we know today.

This is Ariel. She is my foster dog from the Jay County Humane Society in Indiana. ( 302 N Meridian St, Portland, IN 47371. Telephone: 260-726-6339) Ariel’s mother was a purebred Pit Bull and her father was a purebred Airedale Terrier. Age is 9 months old and she weighs an average of 55lbs currently. She will be big when full grown.

Her manners are EXCEPTIONAL for being in the Shelter and her age. She does not jump on you, bark and generally is out of your way while she follows you around. We are currently working on her basics. While she doesn’t know the command to go outside she is pretty much housetrained. We have had zero intentional accidents except for an excited, after play tinkle that caught us off guard.

Ariel plays amazingly with my year and a half old pit bull Haddock. They are growing to be great friends. She has an interest in bones and playing. Long walks on the beach would excite her as she is an AWESOME on the leash walker and curious. Stays close to you and when she pulls at the end of the leash Ariel immediately looks back to you.
