Welcome! Chances are you have entered the doors of this virtual shop not by accident. You have an interest in, a special connection to literature. I am excited that we can both share this. I won't go in to writing about how it all started in my childhood...but simply say my connection to books especially children's literature is as deep as is possible. With the advent of technology including electronic books, I find many of the greatest books out there in print form have been lost, forgotten, and devalued. The "discarded" sticker we may often find on books and books that have been tossed to the side with their multitude of missing pages, rips, tears, and scuffs makes me shudder and overwhelms me with a sense of sadness but simultaneously hope. It's like the all too familiar image of a raggedy teddy simply existing in the deepest darkest corners of the attic - waiting to be revived. It's time we begin to re-treasure our books and breathe new life into them despite the age, rips, scuffs, tears. These books deserve a place to be held and enjoyed once again...to be adopted. The mission of Adopt-a-Book is to deliver to you rare/unusual/foreign/interesting/forgotten titles to be rediscovered and enjoyed for eons to come. Each book is special and is given utmost care and attention to its description and photo display. It deserves to be presented in its utmost one-of-a-kind beautiful as-is form. However some books will be listed as part of a set as appropriate. Unfortunately, some vintage books are in a significantly damaged form but they can be given a second chance via repurposing/art projects. On occasion, I will be listing sets of damaged books for those that are looking to transform them into a new existence. You may be looking for a specific title but I encourage you to explore other books available, as you may discover just that book from your childhood or your loved one's childhood, the book you absolutely know a child or an adult in your life will adore, or the book that just peaks your curiosity and calls to you!
