AMScepter Week 2: Afternoon Guard Duty (Benn +1, Rainy +1) w/ @adheidth
A criminal, was it? She remembers Sonya mentioning something along those lines, but the details are hazy. Nel retracts her hand once it is declined, carefully stepping over various obstacles and stray pieces of concrete-- or ... other things she doesn't recognize, wires coming out of whatever it is in every different direction. "... I am Nel. Under normal circumstances, a professor of the Academy. Here? I could not answer." She wants to know more about the entire debacle that happened before, but... crimson eyes flit to the side in order to study Alice's expression, the lack of hesitation she holds in following her actually being kind of cute. "Well. Rest assured, you will not run into the same problem. At least, not while you are on patrol." With me, she neglects to say. "... Why did they restrain you? Do you remember?" They've made a decent amount of progress, and Nel thinks she's heading in the right direction to cover the last stretch of land that they haven't yet. The lights are disorienting, and she finds that they cause her eyes to water from how damned bright they are. @adheidth
"Out of fear of what I could do," Alice answers quickly, surely, although her voice catches a bit.
She does not like hurting people, although she would be a fool to think it never necessary. A good ruler does not need violence to control -
(but she is not a ruler yet, merely a girl, a Queen, a child.)
A professor of the Academy. She turns the words over in her head, strange/familiar/known, and tries not to have her own eyes water from the blinding lights she is accustomed to. Two steps for every one of Nel's, and she lets the other command their exploration until something catches her eye.
On tiptoes, she leans up and over the older woman's shoulder, pointing to a particularly bright section of ruin and rubble - decorated in faded purples-and-reds, flickering faded neon lighting, with a few broken machines amidst the rubble.
"D-do you know what that is?"
It's hard to tell if she's scared or curious.
