As of tomorrow (my graduation) Iâll officially be done with IB!!! Woohoo! Iâve been so drained this past year and, while it was an enriching experience, it was also a draining one. Iâm proud of myself for doing it, but once is enough tbh! It was overwhelming at times but I enjoyed and appreciate the experience. Since Iâm no longer in IB, Iâm going to leave the blog. If anyone is interested in taking up modding, message my main @malakindness & itâll be yours to shape!

I am well aware itâs a bit late to ask this but my IB director put me in AP Physics 1 and our exam is soon. I donât understand how to figure out which equations are needed when the problems offer very little (if any) numerical values. Especially the AP Mock exam questions.
I just did ap physics 1 so sorry if this is too late but look at the equations given to you and see which factors you have and see if you can get to the one you dont. Like if you have the initial and final velocity and the time but you want the acceleration then you should use Vf=Vi+at and solve for a

GuEsS wHo FiNiShEd AlL oF tHeIr Ib WoRk except for the exams of course
I turned my ee in 4 months late & my dt ia was only 36 pages but itâs fine cause I passed everything.
Also my Math IA was the highest score in the class & Iâm p proud of that.
I didnât really think or know if it would all come together but it has & Iâm committed to a school & Iâm back to doing busy work to prepare for exams!! Itâs weird to do busy work after being in IB for 2 years bc now I always do way more than I need to.

tips for public speaking
take a deep breath
itâll be over before you know itÂ
pretend like youâre obama (itâll help you talk slower)
stand up straight
in a class setting, people donât typically pay attention anyways so itâs not like your classmates are watching your every move. they donât care.
donât lock your knees
bring up a note card with important topics or quotes
make eye contact if you can
or look at peopleâs hair. itâll make it seem like youâre making eye contact, but itâll be less awkward
donât memorize your entire speech. instead, memorize a couple bullet points of topics you need to hit
project your voice as if youâre speaking to someone sitting in the back of the room
talk with your hands to help you feel more warm and welcoming
donât put your hands in your pockets
walk around a bit, but let it come organically. donât force it.
donât bounce one leg the whole time, itâs distracting
spit out your gum
smile
donât eat a big meal prior
if you have to present for a certain number of minutes, have a friend sit in the back of the room and hold up finger signs for how many minutes youâve been up there
donât wear loud jewelry
practice your presentation/speech to a friend or family member who is unfamiliar with the material. if they donât understand your presentation or donât follow, you need to be more detailed
stick to the built-in themes on power point. yes, colors are pretty, but some color combos can be hard to read, and you wonât know it until itâs up on a big screen/projector.
put pictures in your power point. theyâre more entertaining to look at than a paragraph of text.
speak with formal language. stay away from curse words and slang.
remember that everyone in your class is going through the same stress.
if you absolutely cannot handle the idea of public speaking, talk to your teacher and see if itâs okay for you to do your presentation after class.
itâll be okay.
you got this.

How to Finish
I drew this poster for Jon Acuff and his FINISH book tour. Big thanks to Jon for this collaboration, his book has some great ideas about how to complete creative and life goals.
iâm pretty worried about my first IOP for english coming up soon. could you give some pointers on that, maybe coming up with an engaging enough activity, doing well with the presentation, getting a good score and whatnot? iâm not super great with people and i have pretty bad anxiety so iâm worried about that too. i have a topic i like in mind but⌠eugh.
thanks and good luck with succeeding and managing your own things, mods & followers.
ââ Hi! I donât know how long this has been here but here are some tips: Engaging Activity: get the audience actively engaged with one of their senses. Have them listen to a song and talk about it/ask them questions for a minute or two, come up with something with cards (like write something on each one and that has them do something), have them play a quick game. A couple people in my class let their friends know what they were doing before hand and asked them to do specific things to get the audience involved by breaking the ice. Make sure it doesnât take up too much time for your presentation though, because if you prepared at all then you want to use as much of you mins as possible. Format: In preparation for our IOPâs my teacher gave us formatting guides and all. Look at the internet and find presentations that have gotten Aâs in the past, and use their format as a guide for getting your own presentation really well-organized. Donât follow their format if it would make your topic awkward tho. Be flexible. If you donât have a topic, think about your class discussions and choose something that you talked about a lot in class. Time: Make sure you know the time minimum and limit. Ask someone in your class to let you know when you have reached the minimum, when you have two mins left, and if youâve gone over time. My class had a volunteer who held up a giant paper with â8â and â10â on it when we reached those minutes. Look up recommended times to spend on each part of your iop!!! Nervousness/Presentation: Perform your presentation once by yourself, once in front of a friend, and once in front of a classmate that you donât know very well. If you do a powerpoint/presentation, donât write out everything on your slides & same for your notecards!! If you just read off your slides or notecards then you will get a bad score. Unless you are/were a theater student, I would suggest that you memorize the organization and path you want to take, not your 10 minute word for word presentation. If you memorize the words themselves, you will want to go off of that and then you will probably remember something about this being graded or get nervous and you will forget and take up precious time by trying to remember words. However, donât be afraid to take a second to look at your notecards to remember the point you want to make. You just dont want to take 20+ seconds for each slide. If youâre not remembering the full point/argument, just start talking about it and try to improvise. Number your notecards and your slides AND organize them ahead of time. Itâs better to bullet keywords and phrases than complete sentences on ur notecards. This way you can write more. Draw arrows and visualizations bc itâs hard to read when youâre nervous. For presentations, I like to put my evidence in complete, but simple, sentences. Spend most of the slide on your evidence (and try not to do more than ž sentences for this. Dont be afraid to use ellipses). You can engage your audience by asking them to read it (but this is NOT your activity). Then use animations or another slide to bring in implied meaning at the end of each point. *IB doesnât care if you only ever talk about or focus on one thing in your assignments as long as youâre producing original thought and insights!!!!!* I did mine a while ago but I think the format I followed was Title Slide Activity Thesis First Argument/Point >evidence Second Argument/Point >evidence Third Argument/Point >evidence How they relate Conclusion Things about your thesis (this applies to all subjects too except ToK which is more flexible): Your thesis should be something that needs to be proven. If your class or teacher accepts it as true before you even begin your iop (or papers/presentations) then youâre doing it wrong. Donât restate your thesis in your conclusion. Instead, you should try to find a way to talk about your thesis in relation to your arguments. The implications should add to and be related to your conclusion. Implications donât need to be controversial⌠âin this book, itâs revealed that the villainâs dad her kicked out. Because of that, she had to build a life for herself, and even had to live on the streets for some time. This adds to [author]âs theme of the harm of homophobia, and leads us to see her villainy as a product of helplessness and self-reliance.â See? Not that controversial- itâs connecting the obvious and the innate. But if your thesis is something like â[book] uses plot and emotional imagery in order to inspire sympathy with the (gay) villain,â then thatâs connecting the truth to the controversial, bc not every person might like the villain or agree that she has any good purposes for villainy. U see? (Btw I just made that up so dont ask what book it is lol) Anyways ik thatâs long but I hope it helps. Jay

I'm not in the ib anymore but I just want to say to your other followers that if they think they might have adhd but haven't told a doctor, get help NOW!! I only managed to pass my exams because I got the diagnosis and the meds and that was 3 months before final exams which meant I suddenly realized I'd done nothing for 2 years and somehow managed to get from being doomed to fail to getting 32 points within 3 months. don't leave getting help this late, it was extremely stressful
!!!!!
Reminder to drinks lots of water!!! It helps with awareness and concentration. If you take meds itâs especially important!!!
